In the first post, I discussed introduced VIBS (Value Infrastructure Bottleneck Stack) as a complement to my DIBS approach. DIBS examines where new technologies cannot scale arbitrarily. VIBS focuses on a different question: Where does economic value creation fail?
In my view, this allows us to identify four key areas of value creation can be distinguished:
1. Data Foundation
AI requires high-quality, structured, and accessible data. Without this foundation, its economic value remains limited. A typical example in this area is Snowflake $SNOW. (-3,47%)
2. AI Application Infrastructure
Data alone does not create added value. It must be integrated into productive applications. MongoDB
$MDB (-7,29%) is a prime example of this layer.
3. Workflow Transformation
Only when companies transform their processes and integrate AI into their daily workflows can measurable productivity be achieved. ServiceNow
$NOW (+1,38%) addresses this bottleneck.
4. Trust Infrastructure
AI must be deployed in a way that is secure, controllable, and trustworthy. Only then can it be successfully adopted on a broad scale within the company. A leading player in this field is Cloudflare $NET (-2,33%) .
These companies serve as examples of the four VIBS fields. They illustrate which structural bottlenecks must be overcome on the path from AI to economic value creation.
VIBS is not, at first glance, a new software portfolio or even a buy recommendation.
A structurally relevant value-creation field alone does not make a stock attractive. For an investment to be viable, quality, growth, valuation, and market performance must also be compelling.
DIBS and VIBS together form an analytical framework. DIBS answers the question of where technology does not scale. VIBS answers the question of where economic value creation does not scale.
Only when both types of bottlenecks are overcome can high AI investments generate sustainable corporate value.
