Account management fees

The nice Commerzbank $CBK (-6,01%) has sent me a letter announcing that they will start charging account management fees on the Basic current account in the 2nd quarter. 5 a month for no additional services.

I am currently still using 2 giro accounts (Commerzbank and C24) - but this will now change to 100% C24 in the course of March. There I get more services for 0€ and Commerzbank doesn't offer any services for which I would need a branch. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I wonder if this is really the move, and if they shouldn't have just made the fee-based accounts more expensive? (I'm sure if you're paying for Giro anyway it makes no difference whether it's €5, €9 or €15)

I'm sure I'm not the only one making the change now, I wonder if the exchange rate will react to it over the course of the year? the user numbers over the course of 2025 will definitely be interesting 🧐

Kiss,

Larry

I think Commerzbank can probably do without the customers who want the account or everything else for free.

@Dividenden-Sammler also a fair assumption. I gradually reduced it because other providers were simply better (custody account, call money, current account with real-time transfer)

I'll have to check mine today. Are there any exceptions? Amount invested, turnover etc. or are they all affected?

@Smudeo I read "due to changed market conditions" I assume that is for everyone...

@Smudeo The letter also states that if the volume (account, custody account, investments) is 50,000 euros, the current account is still free of charge. We have the VL custody account with Commerzbank, we don't need the current account, but I still have to find out whether that will still work with VL...

@FrauB I just saw it on the back. Very small as a P.S.
But as I don't keep that much on the Giro anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️

@LarryLindt Checked my mailbox, no information from Commerzbank
I'm with comdirect. Have a look at this. Free at the moment. Never had any problems with the service on the phone.
