By controlling the Strait of Hormuz and destroying the alternative land pipeline to the Suez Canal, Iran has the entire world in its grip through oil shortages (and the resulting inflation)—ensuring that the U.S. will no longer attack Iran. This situation will now remain in place permanently. That’s why it’s all the more important for the world to become independent of oil as quickly as possible, and for every country to rely on its own renewable energy sources. Even if this initially entails transition costs—including for every single citizen... The sun doesn’t send a bill, and electricity can be used most effectively in electric cars. All of this is as certain as death and taxes...

@AlexBloch That's right; people will seek out alternative energy sources and move away from oil. I also believe that, overall, the world will turn away from the Middle East, since these political risks are not sustainable in the long term.
