Stryker Is Back!

Here's the hot stuff from Stryker $SYK (+4,34%)
(NYSE: SYK) Q2 2026 Earnings Release, fresh off the US market close on July 30, 2026:

🚀 Top-line performance & strong comeback

Stryker $SYK surpassed the $6.60 billion . This represents robust growth of +9.4% year-over-year (organic growth of +9.0%). The medtech giant thus comfortably exceeded Wall Street’s expectations, which ranged from approximately $6.56 billion to $6.58 billion, and impressively made up for the dip in the first quarter (cyber incident in March).

🔼 Segment Strength: MedSurg, Neuro & Orthopedics

High demand for surgical procedures and robotic technology is driving strong growth in both main divisions:

MedSurg & Neurotechnology: Revenue rose by +9.7% (organically +9.2%) to $3.60 billion. The main drivers were higher unit sales (+9.1%) of medical devices and instruments.

Orthopedics: The segment climbed by +9.1% (organic +8.6%) to $3.00 billion. The global trend toward hip and knee surgeries, as well as the Mako robotic surgery platforms, are reliably bringing in revenue.

đŸ€– Earnings Surge & Expansion

The bottom line is that Stryker demonstrates extremely high operating leverage:

The GAAP net income jumped by +44.3% to $1.30 billion .

The GAAP earnings per share (EPS) climbed by +44.1% to $3.30.

Adjusted Adjusted EPS rose by +17.9% to $3.69 , significantly beating analysts’ estimates (the consensus was ~$3.46 to $3.49).

The adjusted operating margin expanded by 170 basis points to a rock-solid 27.4%.

📈 Steady Recovery & Outlook

CEO Kevin A. Lobo emphasized that Stryker has successfully made up for the operational delays from the start of the year. With a high pace of product innovations (including Mako 4), management is entering the second half of the year with strong momentum and expects to be among the top performers in the medtech sector.

⚡ 💡 Jack’s Take

A textbook turnaround after a bumpy start to the year! Anyone who had doubts about Stryker following the cyber security concerns in the first quarter was caught completely off guard today. With 9% organic growth, nearly $3.70 in adjusted EPS, and an operating margin of over 27%, the medtech leader is delivering a true showcase of quality. Operating rooms are full, and Stryker’s hardware is in higher demand than ever.

So what's causing a double-digit drop in the stock price here? đŸ«

@Roccola601 Ricola, my friend✌, that’s a great and absolutely valid question! The classic “sell-the-news” phenomenon is in full force here again.

Three reasons why the stock is slumping in after-hours trading despite the disappointing numbers:

1. Expectations were sky-high: Stryker had been performing extremely well leading up to the earnings release and was trading at a P/E ratio well over 30x—a premium valuation. Wall Street had already priced in a perfect quarter 100%.

2. Classic profit-taking: Following the strong rally in the medtech sector, many institutional investors took advantage of the high liquidity immediately after the earnings release to lock in profits (“Buy the rumor, sell the news”).

3. Expectations regarding the outlook: At this valuation, a strong quarter is often no longer enough for the algorithms—management would have had to raise the full-year forecast significantly instead of merely confirming it.

In short: A 10/10 operationally, but the market is simply taking a breather in terms of valuation. For quality investors, these “good numbers, price down” days are often the best entry opportunities over a 12–24-month horizon! 🎯

@Aktienhauptmeister In your opinion, what would be a good starting price (no savings plan available)?

@rolling_fireball In my opinion, the current level is already more than interesting. If it doesn't hold, anything below that would be an absolute gift for me.
