The order placed with Siemens Mobility in December 2023 is worth around 500 million euros and represents the largest order for the Mireo train platform from Siemens Mobility to date. The operators have ordered the following vehicles in total: Länderbahn will receive 41 three-car Mireo trains, DB Regio AG 18 four-car Mireo trains and 16 two-car Mireo Plus B with battery operation. The new vehicles will enable ZVNL Schienenfahrzeug GmbH to provide sustainable mobility on non-electrified routes.
Siemens receives billion-euro order from Switzerland
Siemens has been awarded a contract worth billions from Switzerland. The Munich-based industrial group will supply new double-decker trains for the suburban railroads in the Zurich region and western Switzerland.
Siemens also builds digital signal boxes
It was only on Wednesday that Siemens and SBB announced the signing of a long-term framework agreement for the digitalization of Swiss signal boxes. The contract, which will initially run for ten years with an option to extend, covers the construction of digital interlockings, including hardware and software as well as services such as development and training.
