Energy from Scandinavia?

I placed a buy order today for $NESTE (-5,47%) and, just so it doesn’t get too boring with such a reputable stock, right?

, I went with a derivative instead of the stock itself. A classic call option with 5x leverage: $UN38X0. Let’s see if my limit order gets filled.

Energy from Scandinavia is practically right in my backyard up here, so a company like Neste naturally gets my close attention anyway. Fundamentally, it’s a highly interesting player in the renewable fuels sector.

But a classic warrant with 5x leverage? That makes my inner value investor cringe! 😅

You know my strict criteria: I want to see real cash machines that pump a healthy free cash flow and reliable dividends into my account. Your derivative pays you exactly zero dividends, and with 5x leverage, you’re betting purely on perfect timing.
If Neste just drifts sideways for a few months, the loss in time value will mercilessly eat away at your warrant before the story even gets going.

For my core portfolio, that would be a crystal-clear violation of my exclusion rule for pure speculative bets. But if this is just a tiny satellite position for you to get a quick thrill, I’ll of course keep my fingers crossed for you.

I’m really curious to see if your stop-loss holds and your timing pays off in the end. Just make sure the leverage doesn’t catch you on the wrong side! 😉

@Raketentoni I’m simply assuming that the situation in the Middle East will remain fragile for some time to come, which, in principle, benefits all energy stocks. The warrant is relatively conservative, since it’s already in the money, and with a 1:1 exchange ratio, every euro in the stock is worth nearly 20% in the warrant. The time value decay and implied volatility are relatively low. But I still have to get my hands on it 😂
