Comcast with strong figures and dividends

$CMCSA (+0,22%)
jumps over +7% after earnings. Brief overview:

  • Sales: approx. USD 30.1 billion (above expectations) 🟢
  • Earnings per share: approx. USD 1.16 (above expectations) 🟢
  • Broadband more stable than feared
  • Cash flow remains strong
  • Media business solid, Theme Parks strong

Positive: 📈

  • Fewer customer losses in the internet business
  • Strong free cash flows
  • Stable operating development
  • Peacock (streaming) continues to grow with around 2 million new subscribers in the quarter (approx. +6-7% growth), shows operational progress, but remains loss-making (Q2 2026 Peacock should become profitable for the first time)
  • Better than expected overall performance

Negative: 📉

  • Growth in broadband remains weak
  • Structural pressure from competition (5G, fiber)
  • TV business continues to decline
  • Streaming remains cost-intensive

Outlook:

  • moderate growth
  • Stable cash flow
  • Structural risks remain, but currently under control

Currently my position is negative... should the business + share price continue to stabilize, I will continue to invest in the future. Dividends >4% p.a. are solid and with strong growth. A very interesting stock for dividend investors.

Are you invested in Comcast?

@opathomas have a good start. Comcast is a VERY good payer in my opinion. If they keep up the dividend growth as well as they have in recent years, there will be quite a high personal dividend yield in the future. The business is also starting to improve again...I remain invested as well.

@opathomas A new Comcast spin-off is on the way. The stock is reacting well, though :) Let's see if it holds up

@PoorDad A ray of hope today... Comcast's latest numbers were good too, and yet the stock price fell... The stock still has plenty of upside potential...I’m going to keep holding them. Are you adding to your McDonald’s position? I sold 500 UPS shares last week and some Hormel Foods (1,200 shares). I have 100K ready, but I already have 360 McD.

@opathomas I want to get MCD into my top 5. I'm keeping an eye on $ACN and will make a new purchase there once all the fuss about AI fears has died down.

Not yet invested, but on the watch list;
current price as at the beginning of 2015; P/E ratio ridiculously cheap; provided the dividend remains at the same level, now would be a good time to enter the market

@CaYaRo The dividend will definitely remain at this level. There's plenty of room for further increases. And yes, the stock will remain ridiculously cheap if they can't manage to retain their customers.

I bought 100 shares for €20.50. Where do you see the bottom of the current downward trend?
••
imagem de perfil
@AlterFalter24 the bottom is not in sight until Comcast starts to stop losing customers to the competition. Right now it looks bad
••
Ok, and how do you see the new business areas such as the theme park, Peacock, the expansion of the fiber optic network?
I'm invested because I'm speculating on it, the cable TV income is only financing the transition.

@AlterFalter24 I have a similar view, which is why I have Comcast in my portfolio. In my opinion, however, it will take a few more years before Peacock, the parks, mobile communications and business services can really compensate for the weakening core business.

According to Comcast, Peacock should soon become profitable for the first time. That would be an important milestone. The decisive factor, however, is whether profitability can be maintained in the long term and whether Peacock will eventually contribute several billion to profits.

The most important thing for me is that Comcast stops losing customers in the broadband and Internet business. As long as customers continue to flee to the competition, the market will remain skeptical.
