I drive hundreds of kilometers just to convince myself of my investment $DNP (+0,41%) (and to drink bad beer)

As a shareholder of Dino Polska $DNP (+0,41%) I didn't miss the opportunity to make the long and arduous journey to Poland just to shop at Dino.

Advantageyou can combine it directly with the #bierchallenge buy the right beer in the Dino supermarket and drink it right in front of it.

@GoDividend That's exactly what I saw first 😅

@RealMichaelScott It's amazing what you remember 🤣 Some supermarket chain in Poland puts these things on the roof everywhere and the detail sticks from the performance

I read about the share in the book "ohne aktien wirds schwer" and wondered whether the business would also work outside Poland. I don't see any chance here, at least not in Austria. In every village with more than 5k inhabitants there is either a Spar, Billa (rewe), hofer (aldi), lidl or penny. And often even 2 or more of them. Even in smaller towns with a lot of tourism or good transport links, there are these. In even smaller villages there are Nah&Frisch that are supposed to cover daily needs, but in my opinion they don't do well because one of the stores mentioned above is usually less than 10 minutes away by car.

@BregisMoon yes, but why are you referring to Austria? Poland and Austria are not comparable, simply because the GDP per person in Poland is only around $17,000 and in Austria it is already around $47,000. If at all, the next option for expansion for Dino would be Slovakia or possibly the Czech Republic. At present, however, Dino's management explicitly states that it does not yet see any need for international expansion as there is still sufficient growth potential within Poland (especially eastern Poland).

And what is your impression on site?

@beetlejuice is running, I would say. Reminds me a bit of Aldin in the 2000s. Of course, I haven't compared prices with other markets 😅

@RealMichaelScott well, dino is actually very simple-minded. It's really only the price that counts, everything around it is hartz4 😀 The figures are impressive 2500 stores, mainly in the west. Expanding very quickly, over 100 new stores in. 2024. have a second residence in Poland. Personally, I would not invest in the share. The competition there is merciless. Biedronka, Zabka, or Lidl. I don't believe that Dino can or will prevail in the rest of Poland. I personally think Lidl is great in Poland. In Poland it's already the noble discounter. Not even remotely comparable to our lidl here. In terms of price, biedronka and lidl dominate the market. I am invested in poland with the msci poland, there are good companies there. Poland is already a beautiful country, I can imagine that in a few years poland will overtake germany economically.

@Seebi valuable personal impression of you. Thank you for that. Dino's business model is also not designed to compete with Lidl and Aldi in the cities, but rather to supply the smaller towns and be virtually the only supermarket there. I'm not worried about that.

@RealMichaelScott Aldi is hardly represented in Poland. Mine are more like biedronka and Zabka. But you don't need to worry. You'll just have to see how it develops.

@Seebi my "strategy" will be to just leave it and not sell it and see what happens. It was a bit of "play money", so to speak 😅

@Seebi I also think Poland is great! With almost 10% Poland in my portfolio, it's my most important country after the USA. But I think you have to do some stock picking. The MSCI Poland consists of 50% banks and nobody knows whether they are any good
