CVS Health Plans to Split Into Two Publicly Traded Companies by 2028

CVS Health Corp $CVS (+4,29%) plans to spin off its brick-and-mortar pharmacy business from its insurance operations. As reported by the FT, this could reverse one of the largest vertical mergers in the U.S. healthcare sector.

According to the plans under discussion, CVS intends to spin off its approximately 9,000 pharmacy locations into a separate, publicly traded company. The health insurer Aetna and the pharmacy benefit manager Caremark are to remain together as a single entity.

I was lucky to be able to sell them a few weeks ago.

@Solitair Are you going to buy back in once the storm has passed? You’ve got more than 12% upside potential now. I’ve been keeping an eye on it for a while, but it was always too “expensive” for me—but with this pullback, I’ll have to reevaluate it.

@Sanders21 Unlikely. I tend to prefer holding fewer individual stocks—and especially fewer of those risky ones that perform well for a while but can also plummet by 20% at any moment, even though that’s true of any stock, of course. For example, this year I’ve already sold my holdings in Procter & Gamble, BAT, Meta, and Nvidia.
I’ve reallocated the proceeds into ETFs. The next stock I might consider selling is $UNH. But there’s no rush.
