@MoneyISnotREAL if you get enough dividends, it's worth getting a refund with a form that costs €10 with my broker.
So the withholding tax must significantly exceed €10 - then it's worth it

@DividendenMax Ah, ok. Thank you. I don't have that much France, or nothing at all. I used to have Veolia in my portfolio in the early days, but not nearly as large an amount. The €10 fees would have exceeded the refundable withholding tax.

That's what I find funny about our EU, everyone with withholding tax and forms - that there are no internal double taxation agreements to simplify everything ... 🙄🫣

@MoneyISnotREAL Italy, Spain, Norway... all much worse.
Switzerland even easier.
In my opinion, there are many good companies in France.
Which is why I'll soon have to make use of the application 🫣
I have something like $DG or $MC or $AI in my portfolio.

@DividendenMax Yes exactly, there are "worse" nations. Canada as a non-EU country should not be underestimated either 😂

I find the withholding tax within the EU such a paradox: we want to harmonize everything, but when it comes to something that would directly abolish bureaucracy ... 🙄

I no longer invest in individual shares myself, but because of this issue alone, companies would be out for me. I don't want to deal with the bureaucracy, especially as you don't even get everything credited against the withholding tax in France. I mean it's 12.5% of the 17.5% ... i.e. the 5% is the "commission for France" 🫣
