Chris Wright is the Trump Administration's U.S. Energy Secretary and must have come up with something interesting. This morning (EST) he posted a video claiming that the U.S. Navy escorted an oil tanker through the Strait of Hormuz. $IOIL00 (+3,5%) The stock market reacted to the news with relief and fell by -8%. After 10 minutes the post was deleted, whereupon oil rose by 5%. After 13:00 it was reported that Iran was laying sea mines, but this has been verified by CNN.
Karoline Leavitt and the US military later confirmed that no ship had passed. It is not known whether Wright enriched himself in this matter, but I would not be surprised.
