Dear Getquin Community,
What are your current thoughts on the $SMSN (-1,77%)
– Samsung Electronics GDR?
I’m currently taking a closer look at the company and find its broad portfolio quite interesting. Samsung is, of course, best known for smartphones and consumer electronics, but its business extends far beyond that.
In addition to smartphones, TVs, and home appliances , Samsung also has a strong presence in the field of semiconductors and memory chips .
In particular, the area of AI and data centers are particularly exciting to me, especially with regard to HBM memory and the growing demand for high-performance chips.
I’m also interested in areas such as displays, the automotive sector through Harman, as well as air conditioning systems and heat pumps. In my opinion, the air conditioning and heating technology sector in particular could become interesting in the long term due to rising cooling demands and the increasing electrification of the heating sector.
At first glance, the balance sheet also appears very solid, while the valuation seems relatively moderate compared to many U.S. tech companies. At the same time, Samsung is, of course, heavily dependent on the cyclical semiconductor business and faces significant competitive pressure in some future-oriented areas.
I’d therefore be interested in your opinion:
How do you assess Samsung in the long term—both the company itself and the current valuation of the stock?
Would you $SMSN at current levels or add to your position, or would you rather wait for a pullback?
And how do you view Samsung compared to TSMC, SK Hynix, or other semiconductor stocks?
I’m looking forward to hearing your assessments and arguments—especially from those of you who’ve had Samsung in your portfolios for a while.
Thank you very much, and have a great weekend, everyone! 📈
