The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer and Adani Defense & Aerospace are pressing ahead with their collaboration to build regional jets in India. An extended memorandum of understanding provides for the establishment of a final assembly line as part of the Indian Regional Transport Aircraft program. Embraer E175-E1s are to be manufactured there.
According to Embraer, the partnership aims to establish a comprehensive industrial ecosystem - from production and supply chain to maintenance and pilot training. The prerequisite for implementation is securing sufficient orders.
India is considered an important growth market for regional aircraft. Over the next 20 years, a demand of at least 500 aircraft with 80 to 146 seats is expected. The Embraer E175 with up to 88 seats is primarily intended to facilitate connections between smaller cities and strengthen regional air transport links.
The project is part of India's strategy to develop an independent aviation industry and expand connectivity in second and third-tier cities.
