It happened...

After years of ups and downs, I have my first million in my pocket. I used to think this moment would feel completely different. Bigger. More emotional. Somehow life-changing.

But when it builds up slowly over years, the moment comes more quietly than expected. In the end, it's just a number on a screen. The real rollercoaster rides were the doubts, the setbacks, the mistakes and the patience in between.

And yet I know that emotions will continue to run wild in the coming years. Because uncertainty doesn't simply disappear as your wealth grows - it just takes on different dimensions.

That's also my big goal. But when I cracked the 300k mark, I sat on the couch and just thought aha. Now I'm at 370 and I already know that the next milestone won't be more than a shrug of the shoulders. I can imagine that I'll immediately aim for the 1.5 million or so. Fortunately, you grow with your portfolio somehow.

@Tobi60 I'm also currently at 370, but for me it's not just a number, it's a degree of freedom that measures how dependent I am on my job.

And the million is of course a bigger proportion than the 370...

Congratulations. This shows that no matter how realistic, or in my case unrealistic, your goal is, always believe in it, don't let yourself be put off and go for it.😉

@Multibagger avoid the word unrealistic..., when I started this sum seemed far away from any reality. Believe in it and don't let setbacks (I had a few) stop you... 🚀

@MeikelSmith However, 99% of all community members believe that it is absolutely unrealistic to make my project a success and turn €3,000 into €100k in 10 years with a minimum net return of 45% p.a. without making large deposits. You can find everything in older posts if you are interested. I started in April 23! I don't think that's unrealistic. ...

@Multibagger Yeah, it’s completely unrealistic. There’s a super low chance of that actually happening, reports like Dalbar QAIB and SPIVA show that over 90% of retail investors and fund managers underperform the market over a 10-year span. Over a lifetime? It’s more like 99.9%. That’s just reality, so expecting a minimum 45% net return per year is pure fantasy—but hey, I hope you prove me wrong and actually pull it off. Honestly, I think most active investors are either just gamblers or people who think they know more than the rest of the world.

@money_maven_689 Maybe you're right, maybe not. The next seven years will tell. The nice thing is, I won't be broken by it. Whether it works or not. It's my own hobby challenge that I'm sharing here. At 61 years old, I don't have to or want to prove anything to anyone here. I wouldn't call it gambling if you actively trade. In my case, I see it more as a high-risk strategy. Gambling means it's purely a matter of luck. I don't see that here. I already know exactly what I'm doing and why. Most of the time!

@Danone1986 I have always believed in the company and will continue to do so... as I think they will benefit greatly from the current environment in the future.

@MeikelSmith Since you've been around for so long, you'll probably know what you're doing and you've got balls of steel. Good luck and continued success

@Danone1986 if you knew what kind of history I have with this company. You are 10 years younger and I can tell you that your balls are no longer made of steel...
BTW nice portfolio you've built up there...

@MeikelSmith I take your word for it. It's definitely the most concentrated portfolio I've seen here so far. The current position in Apple should actually be pretty good, but it's certainly not easy when it's such a large position. At what point do you want to sell it? What is your plan?

For my part, I will hopefully be able to emigrate to a country where there is no capital gains tax and only then sell... the only problem is the children aged 3 years and 7 weeks 😆

870,000 only in Apple, that's amazing. Congratulations.

Very good. Can confirm it all. You somehow expect a lot when you reach these thresholds, but then you already have the next goal in mind. But all luxury problems.

Great, congratulations, it's still taking a while for me ...

Indeed madness @Danone1986, but its true that you are very lucky with Apple. 👍 Many years ago i left school and bought 400 ASML for €14 and sold it for €21. I was young and happy with the 50% return. Today we know it was a great mistake to sell ASML. (€1400) But it was my only stock and they didn't pay dividend. Today i'm 61 financial independent and needs dividend to pay my bills.
No dividend, not interested

I can feel it.. no one knows or can imagine how big it can be. We are not like jensen huang ✌️

my biggest fault actually was selling 60 shares of micron for 230€ normally I would say okay how should I know this but it happens within 6 month and I sold the 60 shares to made strategic tax sell - but I had choose also other shares for that 😆

U are not alone

In future I will moved to an country with zero tax on stocks wins and dividends. Than I sell all my stock and put it into dividend shares 👌

Congratulations on this milestone! Our portfolios have something in common: over 1 million, with the main position in the same fruit company. Here's to many more returns in the future ... WWDC can come ;)

Mega achievement. Congratulations and all the best! 🍀

Congratulations 🍀 on the 5M
Congratulations, but I would never fix my portfolio at 1 million to a company like that, far too risky!
