My ex-girlfriend shopping:

I don't need the shoes, but I want them.🥺

Me shopping:

Do you know how many investments that is? Dividends every year?

Money that works for me?

Happy investing and happy end of the week everyone

@Gxnter Wasn't the main reason haha

But: Money and shared ideas in this regard are much more of a focus in dating now
late 20s than it used to be. Money ends up being
a very common point of contention in relationships...

@Gxnter She should buy her own shoes. :D

Girlfriend: I don't need it, but I want it.
ETF saver: I don't want it, but I need it.
😂

Savers should still ask themselves one thing: why are they saving and putting their money to work? Saving is just postponed consumption. And either pretty shoes for your girlfriend now or support stockings for your wife later? That's the decision!

@Epi or girlfriend buys the shoes herself?

@MWS The money is still gone. And if the man ends up having to finance something else because of the missing money, he will still have paid for the shoes. 🤷

@Epi that sounds pretty old school...
... Man pays for woman or something like that ;)

@MWS That is true. Partly. Because even in a household where everyone contributes their share, the expenditure of one part is noticeable. Why else would the author of the article have a problem with his girlfriend's shoe purchase?

@Epi I don't have a problem with that ^^

Besides, the exchange in the post is just an anecdote without judgment.

Do I have to write disclaimers for everything? 🤣

Let everyone and every partnership forge their own happiness. 🍀

I know it. Girlfriend: Let's go out for a fancy meal. Me: Let's invest the money in McDoof or Texas Roadhouse or something and eat yesterday's bread.... I'm telling you... the couch is very comfortable ^^

Same scenario with my wife. But you also have to live and I treat myself to something from time to time... but a lot less than my wife 🤪

Anyone who is always very frugal and thinks that they will be able to treat themselves with their assets later in life is on the wrong track.

You don't change this attitude from one day to the next, but for many people it will end up in the direction of stinginess.

Take a look around your circle of relatives. Whether grandparents, uncles or aunts... who of them has always been thrifty and is now having a really good time?

@Pezi for me all 🤔

They all saved up at the right time and started to enjoy life even more than before.

Lucky in my environment 😉

@GeldGenie but that's not the rule....I know almost nobody who gets it done like that. Unfortunately, most of them have drifted towards "greed"...

@Trille85 Individual decision 😊

It's important to me that everyone is given the tools to make an individual decision. 👍
