Hexcel on the trail of Planet Labs to new heights

Hello my dears,

for the year 2026, I am already looking for new TRENDAKTIEN for you for eternity.

Especially in the aerospace industry, it's more and more about efficiency and weight reduction. (so maybe we have the better Novo here 🙈).

That's why I set out to find out which company is leading the way here.

And anyone who knows me knows "I like the blade suppliers".

And I found Hexcel for you $HXL (-0,16%) . First of all, I would like to say that this is a growth stock, recognizable by the earnings growth of +83.59 % and the PEG of 0.64.

I will be happy to provide you with further key figures in a second post.

If you are interested, please let me know in the comments.

Part 2

https://getqu.in/Gsw0Qq/

In this post, I took a closer look at the historical key figures for you.

Here you can clearly see that the old high (in terms of profit and share price) from before the pandemic has not yet been reached again. That's why I still see potential here, which can be clearly seen in the growth rates.

Should the old high of 86€ from 2019 is exceeded, I still see good upside potential.

(I would be happy to receive an assessment of the dear @TomTurboInvest ).

As you can clearly see in another chart. Is Hexcel, companies from the industry with

  • quality
  • growth and
  • robustness

a good step ahead. Robustness in particular can be a good hedge for a portfolio.

If I have aroused your interest, please let me know in the comments.

And of course I am also interested in your assessment.

@EpsEra Do you already know the company?

Bombshell once again, thank you very much! 👆 I'd heard of Hexcel before, but had already forgotten about it. I'll have to take a closer look.

First of all, thanks for the introduction, another really exciting company. Hexcel fits exactly into this scheme of shovel manufacturers with a real moat. The big advantage lies in the highly specialized composite materials, which are extremely light and at the same time very resilient. Combined with long certification processes and deep customer relationships, this creates a barrier to entry that cannot simply be copied.

I see Toray, Teijin and Solvay as the strongest competitors. However, Hexcel is very strongly positioned in the aerospace sector in particular and is deeply integrated in the supply chains of Airbus, Boeing and in defense and space programs. This is not a mass market, but a premium segment in which reliability and know-how are crucial.

After a closer look and my own analysis, Hexcel is on my watch list for the time being. If there are setbacks, I can well imagine finding an entry point here.

@EpsEra
Thank you my dear,
I absolutely agree with you.
You're operating in an area that competitors can't get into so quickly.
Just like you, I see a moat due to the large number of patents.

Thank you for the very interesting article.

I have therefore been looking into the potential competition in the field of civil aviation and carbon fibers. In Germany, I came across $SGL, which has been cooperating with $SOLB in this area since 2020. See also the article at the end from 2020, in which indirect reference is made to $HXL with the reference that the previous fiber composites in aviation are based on 12,000-24,000 filaments (individual carbon fibers). The new composite materials from $SGL would be based on 50,000 filaments (large-tow carbon fibers) and thus result in more efficient fiber production and economies of scale along the entire value chain.

To this end, the company has adapted its own raw material (PAN precursor) produced in Portugal specifically to the requirements and modified the process of carbonizing the fibres in Moses Lake, USA, and Muir of Ord, Scotland. The share of sales in the Carbon Fibers segment (€ 210 million) almost doubled from 2.8% to 5.4% in 2024 compared to 2023, but this corresponds to only € 11.3 million in sales and is also due to the overall decline in sales of € -15 million.

According to the current Q3 report, it is clear that the new composite material currently advertised on the homepage has not been able to establish itself on the market. $SGL is currently restructuring its loss-making Carbon Fibers business unit and has decided to close the Portuguese site and discontinue production of SGL's own precursor there in summer 2025. Similarly, the site in Moses Lake, USA, has also been completely closed.

In my view, this speaks at least indirectly for the quality of $HXL, but I do not yet have a complete overview of the market. In your opinion, what are the (potential) competitors in $HXL's main area of business?

I have put $HXL on my watchlist, possibly a potential buy in the event of a setback.

@DanDoDan
Cool research. And thank you my dear.
I didn't want to make the post too long.
But you can see in the post how many patents $HXL has.
And how many employees and locations are involved in research. The technologies and patents are described in detail on the website.
And in the end, they are with Airbus, Boeing, Embraer and the big defense companies.
And this is all about safety, so it's not easy for an aircraft manufacturer to switch to a new supplier.
••
imagem de perfil
@Tenbagger2024 Precisely because of these many patents and the high market penetration, I found the approach with its own patent/raw material interesting from $SGL, but that was probably a very expensive pipe burst...
••
imagem de perfil
@DanDoDan
Sgl has not been able to generate any profit at all for the last two years.
I think the targets for next year are very ambitious. If they are not achieved, the share could quickly plummet.
But it's really great how quickly you list companies from this sector here. That makes me happy
••
imagem de perfil
Thank you for the introduction. I think the market is becoming more and more competitive. The decline in sales of just under 2% compared with last year is not commensurate with the fall in earnings of over 50% per share.
••
imagem de perfil
@TradingHase
I tend to look to the future.
Investors forget the past very quickly
••
imagem de perfil
@Tenbagger2024 That can also go wrong. 😉 Are you invested?
••
imagem de perfil
@TradingHase
No . Not yet. But the company has a long tradition and many patents. The sector is all about safety, so there is a certain moat.
••
My dear. Simply sick
