Most of my portfolio is currently in an S&P 500 ETF because I like keeping things simple. Instead of trying to pick the next big winner, I can invest in hundreds of companies at once and just keep adding over time.
I still like looking at individual stocks, especially tech companies, but sometimes I wonder if it’s worth the extra risk when the S&P 500 has performed so well for such a long time.
For those who invest mainly in individual stocks, what makes you choose them over a simple S&P 500 ETF? Do you think you can consistently beat the market over the long run, or do you just enjoy researching companies?
