Dividends: A Gift from Companies
Hello, investors,
Today’s question is: Which dividend stock is the top performer?
Stocks differ across various sectors—that is, whether a stock is a growth stock or a dividend stock.
These are the two main categories based on their characteristics. This means that if I want to build a dividend portfolio, I need to choose dividend stocks. The dividend yield is a key characteristic of the stock. I should keep in mind that if a stock’s dividend yield approaches double digits, it’s questionable whether this will pay off in the long run—because if the company experiences a decline in revenue, it must decide whether to pay out the dividend and go into debt or to lower the dividend to offset the losses.
Companies that achieve consistent dividend payouts appear to be more reliable year after year, but the “blue-chip” companies have a 50-year track record of dividend payments.
But the past is not the future.
So I would focus on the steady trend of the stock price and check whether the trend is positive. The motivation is to be self-aware and prove my abilities—so that I can understand how investing works through my own exploration of the market. The feeling of the market’s movement is an emotional roller coaster—it’s like a lottery ticket, except that victory or defeat isn’t determined after 90 minutes; it’s only over when I sell the stock, and only then do I know whether I’ve won or lost.
If I want to make a profit, I simply need to be patient and decide whether to take the short-term gain or whether I have more time and won’t let short-term fluctuations cause me to panic. Then I let the right stock pay dividends until the end of its successful run.
My personal favorites are:
1 $Coca-Cola
6$BLK
These are some pretty solid companies.
