Keep on oil shares?

Servus 'zam!

I'm currently considering selling my Chevron shares. I've been holding the stock for almost six months and am making a good profit.

The oil business is not my favorite sector and the market is currently difficult for me to assess. What is the community's view on this? Thank you

A great long-term pick for dividend hunters despite cyclicality

I have been keeping mine for years and will continue to do so. It is not only for energy, transportation, but also building block of materials.

A clear pick as far as dividends are concerned. However, the oil industry is still too difficult and opaque for me to assess in the long term.

@MozartsGeist I think you've already answered the question yourself, haven't you? If you don't feel comfortable with the investment in the long term, then in my opinion you should invest the money elsewhere where you feel more secure or better positioned in the long term.

The only reliable way to avoid high profits in the long term is to sell for a small taxable profit in the short term.

@gloinvest I certainly see it that way! I was not primarily concerned with profit realization. I had explained it.

I hold $CVX as a hedge against a sharp rise in the oil price. Irrespective of this, the profits of $CVX will be higher for several quarters because there is temporarily too little oil on the market even if the Strait of Hormuz is open.
Apart from that, the company is a money-making machine.
