Jumia was founded in 2012 and when I look at the chart, the share price hasn't really exploded either. It only went up in 2021 after Jumia went public on the NYSE in 2019. Why do you think they are suddenly successful now?
@BavarianLion Not just geopolitically, logistics is a very costly and difficult issue in Africa. I had already been heavily involved with $JMIA and had already invested, but I think it will take a few more years. If it were that easy, $AMZN and co would have already positioned themselves there. It will take decades in many African countries, the investments bring relatively little in relation to the returns and if $JMIA manages to increase margins sustainably and operate profitably at some point, they will probably simply be taken over. Which doesn't mean that the share price or value of the company can't rise further. But at this point in time I also think the investment is courageous, we are historically running into September, but with a 10-20 year holding intention who knows ☺️
I am also back in Jumia Has already been an accelerating element in my portfolio Initial purchase in April 2020 at €2.7 with a decent profit before the big sell-off. Now back in with an average EK of €2.3, I sold a third of my position this week at €6.9. I am simply leaving my current holding in the portfolio for the long term
