Cryptoinvest without crypto knowledge

I have no idea about crypto and have no crypto holdings in my portfolio so far. At the moment, I'm only putting a small amount of BTC into my kids' (6+8 years old) custody account.

For someone who is somewhat unfamiliar with the asset class and who sees a lot of gambling here, wouldn't it be the 'safest' thing for my own portfolio to invest in a product like $CTEN (-0.08%) and wait and see which coins catch on and which ones crash?

I will probably continue to concentrate primarily on real estate and secondarily on shares and ETFs, but I would like to hear your opinion on this.

If it is to be an alternative asset: Only BTC! In my opinion, all other coins are not assets that you need to invest in somehow. Maybe okay for gambling, but never for wealth creation or preservation. If you don't want/can't use real BTC, choose a pure Bitcoin ETP.

@All-in-or-nothing Thanks for the assessment. It actually confirms my gut feeling that BTC is basically 'the original' and that the other coins are more attempts to copy the successful model.
But as I said - I've never familiarized myself with it.
