Hi everyone,
I recently took a closer look at an extremely exciting company in the medical technology sector: the Transmedics Group ($TMDX (-1,08%) ).
With its Organ Care System (OCS) and the National OCS Program (NOP), Transmedics is revolutionizing organ transplantation by keeping organs alive outside the body and offering a fully integrated logistics solution. A fascinating business model!
The whole thing was of course examined in more detail in my 17-point check:
🏰 Moat (Competitive Advantages): 5/5 points
- Absolute global market leader in the niche, unique multi-organ platform (FDA-approved), high switching costs thanks to the NOP service model, clear technological lead and strong brand loyalty.
📈 Growth: 5/5 points
- Explosive sales growth (>80% in the last FY, >140% CAGR 3 years), impressive scalability, benefits from extremely strong industry trends (organ shortage), innovative service (NOP) and successful expansion.
⚠️ Risk: 2/5 points
- Key weaknesses: An ongoing class action lawsuit (fraud allegations) poses an incalculable risk and a sharp decline in sales during the COVID crisis showed vulnerability. In addition, high concentration of sales in the liver segment.
⭐ Special points: 1/2 points
- Positive: High insider share of management.
Overall conclusion: Despite the risk points, Transmedics passed my check with 13 out of 17 points and is a potential buy.
In addition, the savings plan activator based on the historical P/E ratio is on.
