Produces copper, molybdenum, molybdenum-based chemicals. The Company operates in two divisions, Phelps Dodge Mining Company (PDMC) and Phelps Dodge Industries (PDI). PDMC division has six copper production segments in the United States, including Morenci, Bagdad, Sierrita, Miami/Bisbee, Chino/Cobre, and Tyrone; and three copper production segments in South America, comprising Candelaria/Ojos del Salado, Cerro Verde, and El Abra. PDI division comprises two segments Specialty Chemicals, and Wire and Cable. Specialty Chemicals segment produces and markets a range of rubber carbon blacks for tires and mechanical rubber goods; and industrial carbon blacks for inks, paint, plastics, and electric cable insulation products. Wire and Cable segment manufactures magnet wire, energy cables, and specialty conductors.
