@Spiv The question is whether this will help at all with over 3,000 securities: on the one hand, it will not significantly increase performance and, on the other hand, it would make the ETF significantly more expensive.

•@RealMichaelScott It does make a difference if the dividends are reinvested. I also find it helpful for the relevant stocks when a fund is fully invested.

As long as the tracking error is kept within reasonable limits, I wouldn't worry too much about the choice between optimized sampling and full replication.
