Why not? I would perhaps make sure that it is tax-free after one year, but I'm not entirely sure about $IGLN. Do you want to trade or invest properly?

@Hotte1909 I want to invest with the ETFs and the gold ETC and slowly build up assets via savings plans. I want to trade a few individual stocks and have some fun :)

@Hotte1909 According to my information, $IGLN is not tax-free.

Tax-free that I know of:

$EWG2
$SGBS
$4GLD

@Carsten1970 over 1 year, then profit sales should be tax-free, according to my source

@Carsten1970 I don't think it is tax-free either. The gold is physically deposited but as far as I know it is not deliverable. But that's kind of a never-ending story with the ETF 😉

@V8-Bierturbo then you won't go far wrong with World and gold. Maybe add an Em and Bitcoin, but that's a matter of taste.
Remember, back and forth empties your pockets. 😉

@Carsten1970 Thanks for the information! I originally thought that a holding period of more than one year would generally result in tax exemption.

I was planning to save the $EWG2 via my VR Depot, but unfortunately that doesn't work. Only purchase with substantial fees. TR does not offer this option either, which is why I have now switched to $IGLN.

As far as I have found out, $EWG2 is only possible with SC.

Do you invest in gold? If so, how do you manage this for yourself? Have you set a certain percentage for yourself or what strategy do you follow? I find the topic of gold really interesting and would be happy to discuss it with you. Thank you for your reply.

@Bidax No, I don't have a gold savings plan. I only inherited two coins. I only have normal ETFs. I got the information about the tax from a colleague. He once sent me a chart showing which funds are tax-free and which are not.

@Carsten1970 @Bidax
I downloaded the official information sheet from $IGLN from iShares:

1. transparent fund according to InvStG:
The document mentions that the ETC should fulfill the requirements of a "transparent fund" according to article 2 and 4 of the German Investment Tax Act (InvStG), but no guarantee can be given .
In the case of physically backed gold ETCs that are classified as transparent, price gains are deemed tax-free after a holding period of at least one year.

2. no current income:
The document explicitly states that the ETC generates "no income" (appropriation of profits: "No income"). This means that there are no current distributions that would be relevant for tax purposes.

3. general tax regulations:
The taxation of physically backed gold ETCs in Germany is governed by Section 23 of the German Income Tax Act (EStG) (private sales transactions). Profits from the sale of physical gold (also indirectly via ETCs) are tax-free after a holding period of one year. Sales within one year are subject to withholding tax.

@V8-Bierturbo actually think you're the first person to read through the official information 😀 you could have come up with the idea yourself. Thank you for the info ❤️
