On December 31, 2024, Embraer signed a contract for the sale of four A-29 Super Tucano aircraft to an undisclosed customer in Africa.
The aircraft will perform a wide range of tasks, such as border surveillance, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), close air support, counterinsurgency and pilot training.
Embraer had already announced a firm order for six A-29 Super Tucanos from an undisclosed customer on December 30, 2024. Deliveries are scheduled for 2026.
These aircraft will be equipped with enhanced capabilities to carry out missions such as air defense, close air support and also patrol flights over the sea.
According to Embraer, the A-29 offers high operational flexibility and can be used on unpaved runways in harsh environments thanks to its robust airframe.
Embraer considers the A-29 Super Tucano to be the world leader in its category with over 290 orders and more than 570000 flight hours, 60000 of which are in service. Prior to the current orders, the Brazilian company had already announced sales of the Super Tucano to the Portuguese Air Force (A-29N), the Uruguayan Air Force and the Paraguayan Air Force in 2014.
