$PLTR (-1,66%) | OPENAI PARTNERS WITH ANDURIL ON U.S. MILITARY COUNTER-DRONE SYSTEMS

OpenAI is making its first major move into defense, partnering with Anduril Industries to integrate its AI technology into counter-drone systems used by the U.S. military, marking its first collaboration with a commercial weapons maker, according to the WSJ

This deal, announced Wednesday, reflects OpenAI's evolving stance on military collaborations, which were restricted until policy changes earlier this year.

Anduril’s counterdrone systems, used by the U.S. military, will now incorporate OpenAI's models to enhance accuracy and speed in detecting and neutralizing threats. While OpenAI’s AI won't be used in Anduril's other weaponry, the partnership highlights a shift in Silicon Valley's relationship with the defense sector.

Anduril, valued at $14 billion, is among a few defense startups thriving with AI-powered solutions, recently securing a $200M U.S. Marine Corps contract. This move also opens a new revenue stream for OpenAI, whose operational costs remain high as it scales. Terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
