Its pretty red over here today

NichtRelevant · 2026-09-29T15:23:35.100403Z

I have no idea why. At least there's a dividend payout tomorrow from $WINC and $ARCC . I can use that right away to buy a little more.

Even in my portfolio, which is usually relatively calm and steady, things seem a bit more turbulent than usual this month. Days like $WINC, $RIO, $MAIN, $HSBA, $VAR, or even $YYYY, $ASWM are always welcome.

In the long run, though, everything’s still okay.

Do I hear a "mimimimi" over there? 🤭😉

@Dividendenopi I think there's been a lot of "whining" over the last two years for some people, and I'd see it more as a healthy way to "shake the dirt off your shoes"...🫠

@SAUgut777 If I take a look at his portfolio, it should be pretty limited. My usual daily volatility is also a bit higher today—in the wrong direction—so I’ll end up closing out September with a small loss after all. That’s fine, though, and it means there’s still plenty of dividend grime stuck to my shoes 😇🤭

@Dividendenopi It’s better to see it go up than down. 😅

No, it's not a cause for concern, but usually it goes up or down by up to 3,000 euros a day. Today it's a little more. But it'll be fine—I don't plan on withdrawing anything right now—so I'll just keep watching it fluctuate.

What are you buying next? A little more $SESG? What's your price target there, anyway?

@Sebbster I'd like to build up my position in $SESG to at least 1,000 shares. I don't have a specific price target—I just want the stock to ride the wave of the satellite and space hype and generate some dividends along the way. 🙂

@GeldGenie It’s not just one specific stock that took a dive today. Normally, I have a fairly balanced, resilient portfolio. Usually, some stocks go up a few euros while others go down a few euros (but over the medium and long term, the trend is upward 😉). It’s rare for everything to move in the same direction.

Today, (almost) everything in my portfolio is down by a relatively even margin:

TDIV ETF = -1.02%
Munich Re = -1.52%
Deutsche Telekom = -1.57%
Pfizer = -0.4%
PZU = -2.39%
BATS = -1.77%
Bayer = -3.72%
Veolia = -0.57%
MPC Container = -1.12%

At its peak today, the loss was 5,000 euros. That’s slightly more than the average daily volatility. But of course, it’s not catastrophic—just unusual.

GeldGenie@GeldGenie

@NichtRelevant I just checked out your posts and asset allocation. Nothing can shake that—except maybe an earthquake. 😋

Yeah, with Divi payers, it’s all relative. I’m glad to have a few of them on board. 😊

Best of luck going forward!

@GeldGenie Thanks for the flowers. Still, you never know where life will take you. If everything goes horribly wrong, I'll buy a book and learn how to plant potatoes. 😅

••

GeldGenie@GeldGenie

4G

@NichtRelevant Absolutely.

For me, the stock market “just” needs to keep going for another 2–3 years (it doesn’t need to crash by 40%, but I don’t need massive gains either), and then I’ll buy my own home (1.4–2 million). Anything beyond that is a bonus 😋 And if it crashes, new options will open up again. 😉

What do you have in your portfolio that's in the red? Stock indices are down slightly, Bitcoin and gold are up slightly—actually, it's a pretty boring day.

@NichtRelevant I'm currently down €57, or 0.01%. But I was up €2,000 at the day's high.

@Solitair I'm always amazed at how quickly things can sometimes swing from positive to negative—and vice versa—in the course of a single day.

@NichtRelevant You're not diversified across asset classes at all, and you're 100% exposed to the fluctuations of the stock market.

••

@Psychedelic_Sunflower Asset classes:

I actually don’t own any Bitcoin—I’m old and stubborn, after all. 😉

I don’t own any gold—if I did, I’d hold it physically, keep it off the radar, and not tell anyone. 2x😉

I find bonds rather tricky given the level of government debt; I actually haven’t had any in my asset mix for over 10 years.

Stocks—yes, my portfolio basically moves with the market (even though I tend to take a more defensive approach).

Real estate—that’s actually my biggest exposure 🙂.

Maybe, just to be on the safe side, I’ll build up a stash of canned goods and liquor. 👈

@NichtRelevant In that case, the only thing to do is to stoically ride out the bad days or go all-in on money market funds

@Psychedelic_Sunflower So, you probably shouldn't become an investment advisor, and yeah, some people follow a different, successful strategy and have to put up with being told they aren't diversified enough....

...Hats off to you—try achieving half of that first, and then think again about the "not investment advice" thing 🤭

••

Chris@Psychedelic_Sunflower

4G

@SAUgut777 Sure, you don't have to diversify, and yes, that can certainly work out very well. But if you then post something worried because of a small loss on a single day, the options I mentioned are the obvious ones.
