Dealing with losses

How do you deal with losses? Do you realize them promptly or do you wait and see?

I mostly invest for the long term. At least until I found this portal here 😇

I actually buy stocks that I'm convinced of and then leave them. Always with money that I don't need elsewhere.

Now, for example, I have titles like $EVT (+0,36%)
$SRT (+0,27%) or $S92 (-1,5%) . All deep red. Wouldn't really bother me, I don't need the money. I have enough cash to buy other stocks.

Is it still worth selling because of taxes or how do you handle such cases?

What are your portfolio corpses?

It all depends on whether I still believe in the company or not.

My portfolio corpses are Porsche, VW, Grenke, Conagra Brands and Western Union. And I still believe in a good outcome for all of them! 👍🏼

Minus 20% is the absolute limit for me. Then I sell.

I have positions that I have sold at a loss ( $PLUG or $ENPH, for example) as well as "portfolio corpses" that I have held on to so far ( $AMP and also $SRT ). The decisive factor is whether I still believe in the company and whether I have the feeling that I can find something better with the money. If I'm no longer convinced, I sell, and then it doesn't matter whether I'm down 70% or up 25%. So maybe have a look at whether your investment case is still intact for the companies mentioned. If so, I would hold.
Labs are always needed, there was just a big boom at Sartorius because of Corona. I would hold and buy more if the valuation is reasonable (currently not, as P/E ratio >140 for preference shares $SRT3 ).
