Petroleo Brasiliero - what's going on?

To be honest, I was a little surprised as to why $PETR4 (+2,3%) after 4.90 euros in December, the share suddenly stood at just under 5.50 euros. I went looking and found the following explanations online:

"The share price of Petróleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) recorded a significant increase in January 2026, with the share price rising by around 15% in the last four weeks alone.

This upward trend is primarily driven by the following factors:

1. record oil production figures

Petrobras announced in January that oil production in 2025 had reached a new record of 2.40 million barrels per day. This exceeded the targets set, which corresponds to an increase of 11% compared to the previous year. Production was particularly strong in the profitable deepwater fields (pre-salt), which now account for 82% of total production.

2 Strategic investments and fleet expansion

The company recently secured a contract worth USD 560 million for the construction of gas tankers (LPG), barges and push boats at Brazilian shipyards. This measure to expand its own fleet reduces its dependence on expensive charter ships and at the same time strengthens the local economy.

3. attractive dividend announcements

Investors reacted positively to the confirmation of the dividend policy:

A distribution totaling Real 12.16 billion was approved for the third quarter of 2025.

The payout will be made in two tranches in February and March 2026.

A special dividend was also announced, which will be paid out at the end of March 2026.

4. positive analyst ratings

Several financial institutions, including UBS, have raised their price targets and ratings for Petrobras following the strong production figures. "

Personally, I see all this as a positive development. Nevertheless, I wanted to $PETR4 (+2,3%) to add more soon and now the share price has run away from me a little.

Perhaps I'll wait for the dividend payments in February and March and hope that the distributions will pull the share price down a little.

The payout will automatically pull the share price down 😉

@Sansebastian Yes, technically it has to happen. I'm aiming for March. If there is actually a special distribution then, there could be a good buying opportunity after the ex-day.

Thanks for the information, but I'm thinking of using the price rise to get out. Let's see how the next few weeks go...

@Novius That is the nature of the stock market. Everyone has their own individual assessment of the individual securities.
Have you already chosen a candidate to replace Petrobras? Would that be one of the stocks from the article you posted today?
immagine del profilo
@NichtRelevant maybe. I am also thinking anti-cyclically and may want to top up at $GIS or get in at $CALM
immagine del profilo
@Novius at $CALM I would wait a little longer.
immagine del profilo
@SAUgut777 for what reason? Ex-day on 28.01.?
immagine del profilo
@Novius can be done, but I think they will still correct something from the "egg crisis high in the USA" 🤷🏻‍♂️

Attractive dividend 😅🤷🏻‍♂️

So the regular dividend has shrunk mega in comparison, and that already started last year.

And if there is to be a special dividend, it will be because the state needs money and for this special dividend the maximum debt limit will have to be raised again and further debt will have to be incurred up to the maximum 👍🏻

There were many new projects, at least started and announced, but these were and still are largely scrapped due to a lack of money, but the main thing is to announce a special divi 😅

A few tankers and boats don't really help.

The production figures may have gone up, but it doesn't help much if the sales aren't right.

The only reason why they are really picking up is the current geopolitical situation and the hope for Mercusur.

So things don't really look as rosy as they are painted here 🤫😉

Ask @SAUgut777 he sold them. 😂😂😂 Well, as I always say. Let's talk

@Tomtom12 The stock market is usually a crystal ball. I'm sure @SAUgut777 has reinvested the proceeds from the sale elsewhere.
But I still think it's a shame that he's no longer with $PETR4, as he always posted the latest news about the company so well.

@Tomtom12 and for good reason...and in my view the only reason for the current rise is "geopolitical" and the hope for "Mercusur".

The regular dividend has been mega-shrunk, if there is to be a special dividend, it will be because the state needs money and for this special dividend the maximum debt limit will have to be softened again and further debt will have to be incurred.

And there were many new projects, at least those that had been started, but most of them were and still are scrapped due to a lack of money.

So things don't really look as rosy as they are painted here 🤫😉

@NichtRelevant reinvested, of course, and in my view also satisfactorily.

@SAUgut777 and @Dividendenopi, hello friends, what's going on?
immagine del profilo
@Tenbagger2024 I've already expressed my opinion here in the feed...just have to scroll through briefly 😉🤫

@SAUgut777
The question was passed on from @NichtRelevant. Thought I could help him further
immagine del profilo
@Tenbagger2024 I have described my assessment here in the feed, what else should I do 🤷🏻‍♂️

Have I missed something?
immagine del profilo
@SAUgut777 No, everything is fine. I seem to have overlooked it. Sunday nap .sorry

@Tenbagger2024 I don't know, I got out at the beginning of January after careful consideration. The current rise is short-lived, rising oil prices and perhaps a few more macroeconomic short-term trends. Still in with a position via my EM ETF. The rise will not last
immagine del profilo
@Tenbagger2024 I am invested and actually wanted to expand a little. However, EUR 5.50 is a little expensive for me and my entry price was significantly lower.

I'm prepared to bear a little risk due to a high government stake in the company, etc., but diluting the entry price upwards seems unwise in my situation at the moment.

I'll leave my position on hold for now and see where the share stands when I receive my cash returns in 4-6 weeks and have money to invest.
