Which banks do you have in your portfolio?

$USB (+0,39%) It's one of my oldest stock investments in
portfolio—one that I’ve been buying regularly ever since my early days as a value investor.

US Bancorp is the seventh-largest bank in the U.S.. This bank is one you’d not not really keep an eye on it, because we usually focus on the big banks such as $JPM (-0,14%) , $BAC (-0,16%) , $C (+0,19%) or $WFC (-0,06%) are familiar with—and for good reason.

Back then, I liked USBancorp best because it offered me the perfect mix of solid financial figures, a secure and—at the time—high dividend yield of over 5% . Furthermore, USB is a massive U.S. bank with total assets currently standing at $692 billion. This heavyweight JPMorgan, on the other hand, has total assets of $4.6 trillion. There’s simply no comparison. This also highlights the enormous role played by competition among the largest U.S. banks … even though only the top 10.

Banks actually indirectly own nearly everything in the world. Or rather, they make money on every corner of the world, even if it’s just an overdraft because you’re running low on cash that month. It’s actually pretty outrageous.

Which banks do you have in your portfolio?

US Bancorp has been in my portfolio for over three years in my portfolio and, including net dividends , at over 61% . In my view, this is a reliable stock with a yield of over 5% dividend yield on my invested money.

That’s an acceptable rate of return if it holds up over the long term and the bank continues to increases. However, I no longer reinvest the dividends in USB but in other stocks, since I don’t want to maintain such a large position in it going forward.

I think I’ll grow old with this investment—until I eventually change my mind. 😜

Actually, I think anyone in the community holds USBancorp shares—or do they?

@Get_Rich_or_Die_Tryin Both performed very well. I had $HSBA in my portfolio, but I recently sold after it doubled in value... before I learned that it's better to trim your position rather than sell everything. Still, it was a good decision.

I have $INGA in my portfolio. Actually, it was out of frustration because they eventually wanted to charge 99 cents for the EC card. So I bought 25 shares for €325 so that ING would pay for it instead of me. It’s now up 134%, not including dividends. Sometimes even silly investment decisions turn out well :-D

@marda304 Awesome 😅 Frustration doesn't just lead to bad things! 😂

$USB I hadn't heard of it before, but I'll take a look—maybe it's something 😉 As for banks in my portfolio, I only have $JPM, which is up a good 150% 🚀

@daddyinvestiert Top🚀 JPM is a stock I'd really love to have in my portfolio. Maybe a good price will come along in the future.

Vanguard High Dividend covers the banks nicely; I don't have any individual ones.

@investron European banks have performed remarkably well over the last few years. I really enjoyed that with $HSBA as well.

@PoorDad I missed out on $HSBA . I thought - this would be a great bank to invest but just a few days later the price went up quite a bit and it was too late.

I’ve also invested in banks solely through ETFs. MSCI Europe Financials Sector ETF A (over 55% banks), Global Quality Dividends UCITS ETF (about 15% banks), and Legal & General UCITS ETF Plc - Asia Pacific (ex-Japan) Equity (around 30% banks) ... I think that’s enough, too ;-)

$BIRG has been the only individual stock in my portfolio since Q3 2023, with a total return of 129.61%. My personal dividend yield is already at 7.7%.

To be honest, just $DBK and $PNGAY. I picked up Deutsche Bank back during the pandemic at just under 9 euros. I’m more than satisfied with the performance—+240% 🤩—and the dividend is also more than decent and keeps rising year after year. I’ve always wanted to buy another U.S. bank, but they’re all too expensive for me right now.

Ping An has been in my portfolio since last year. The performance isn’t that great yet. It was significantly higher at one point, but it’s come back down quite a bit and is now at +12%. It pays a good dividend, though, and I think it’s a sound move to hold onto it for the future. It’s only a very small position for me, but I might add to it again soon.

@Kauli 👏🚀 You hear about PingAn quite often. But I've never really looked into it.

None at all. Things all got a little too hectic for me. If a financial crisis ever hits, I might buy some again if necessary.

My cash flow portfolio consists of approximately 5% banks/financials and 5% insurance companies. In addition, there’s what’s included in the global dividend ETFs. The 5% in banks/financials consists of Bank of Nova Scotia, ING, M&G, DBS Group, Amundi EURO Stoxx Banks Distributing, and NU Holdings (of course, there’s no cash flow strategy behind this one).

I have $MONET , $KOMB and $EBS . Nice growth supported by strong dividends! 👍
••
$WFC, $BNS and $CBA.$BNS has paid a dividend EVERY YEAR WITHOUT INTERRUPTION since 1833 and has increased it every year except for a very few.
(WTF is a world war?)
$WFC was already robbed back then—Deutsche Bank didn’t even exist yet.

I love this kind of quality.

I have a small position in $ITUB4 (Itao Unibanco). It's a Brazilian stock—with dividends that are outrageous some years.
