Absolutely excellent illumination of a really comprehensive topic.
I was very surprised that Varta played a role in the matter, as the company had only recently gone bankrupt and I had not expected it to continue operating.
Another hope of mine is that BYD as a battery manufacturer will also play a role in the overall construct.
The topic is very important, especially with regard to data centers, as the amount of energy required will continue to increase and a seamless supply is essential.
There are a lot of suggestions for investing, but everyone has to choose what they find most interesting.
I can't make up my mind. Have you already decided where you want to start?

@TradingHase Thank you for your detailed feedback 🙏 At the moment, I am only invested in CATL and MP Materials. The topic plays a central role in the area of batteries and energy supply for data centers, especially when it comes to energy efficiency and reliability 🔋
However, I have to say that I myself am not yet as broadly invested in the sector as I would like to be. My research has made me realize how many exciting companies there are here, but you can't invest in all of them. Some are already on my watchlist and I plan to expand my portfolio by around six to eight stocks over the next few months.
I'm more of a stock picker and want to make my own decisions instead of investing via ETFs. That way I can gain my own experience, both good and bad.
I still find BYD very interesting. Even though the company has come under pressure at times due to the negative narrative surrounding Warren Buffett's exit, BYD remains one of the most exciting players in the field of electromobility and battery technology for me. The current share price is definitely attractive again, which is why I am not ruling out a re-entry 🚀
I would be interested to know which of your favorites you currently find particularly exciting and where you personally see long-term potential?

@EpsEra I am invested in BYD myself, despite the confusion surrounding the split, which was not a complete split, or the exit of WB, which I do not understand. However, I would not add to it as the existing position is already large enough.
CATL is one of the big players and will remain so, as the company is constantly evolving.
This is also necessary, as the development of battery technology in particular is progressing extremely rapidly.
For this very reason, $KC will remain my only investment in raw materials for the time being (which is extremely negative and not worth selling). It is not clear where the research and technology is going. There have already been successful attempts to store energy in salt! This means I fear revolutionary research results that could suddenly make the raw materials we need today superfluous.
I wouldn't want to invest in an ETF on this topic either, as a lot of "garbage" also destroys performance here.
However, I agree with you that CATL is worth investing in.
For the above reason, I wouldn't necessarily want to go into suppliers or, as it is called here, shovels either.
The software side is extremely important, but I don't have the confidence to filter out the player that will set the main standards.

Thank you very much for your strong feedback and your exciting thoughts 🙏 I find it impressive how far-sightedly you think and analyze the whole thing, there really is a lot of experience behind it. I agree with your assessment of raw materials; in the short term, you can certainly still get involved, but in the long term, research and developments such as salt storage in China, which @SAUgut777 also analyzed very well in its article, will probably change a lot.
The software sector is also very interesting, and I am also keeping an eye on companies such as Applied Materials and 3M. When it comes to hydrogen, I find Linde as a major player and smaller companies such as Plug Power or ITM Power particularly exciting, even if the sector is currently stagnating. It's really great to be able to exchange ideas so openly and learn from each other. This makes investing together fun 💪

@EpsEra Thank you very much.
Yes, the contribution from @SAUgut777 was very interesting. I am curious to see whether the existing problems will be solved and whether nuclear energy will take a step towards greater safety.
I've had Applied Materials $AMAT in my WLost for a while, but it's valued a good 10% too high at the moment.
Hydrogen is too problematic for me. Production is too expensive and the technology has lost out to electromobility.
Linde $LIN is still a quality share for me, even if the share has only known the way down for a year now. When the bottom will be reached is questionable and therefore not a share I would like to invest in.
I find Plug Power $PLUG interesting, but quite high volatility. The figures (profits/sales and employees) have been falling for 3 years, which could also be a sign that the share is overheated/hyped. I am watching with interest, but am skeptical despite constant increases.
I have not yet looked at 3M and ITM (never heard of them).
You only learn new things through exchange and I still have a lot to learn about shares, valuation etc. 😂

@EpsEra @TradingHase CATL is already working on a salt-based electric battery and has already achieved the first breakthroughs here (I reported on this some time ago). Nevertheless, lithium batteries will not disappear so quickly and CATL and BYD will both remain big players.
When it comes to raw materials, I deliberately chose $RIO, because it doesn't just focus on 1 or 2 raw materials, but bundles several.
There will be more and more solutions for nuclear energy in the near future and it is and will remain the key technology in the energy sector alongside renewables.

@SAUgut777 I'm with you. BYD will be one of the players that will gain a foothold worldwide. CATL with its expertise in batteries will certainly be too. The salt battery is already on the road in test vehicles if I am correctly informed.

Great assessment 👍 ITM Power and Plug Power both belong to the same category and have improved significantly in price over the last six months. ITM is the cheaper and less hyped version of Plug Power. I completely agree with you on the subject of hydrogen; the battery has clearly prevailed in e-mobility. However, I see great potential for hydrogen and fuel cells in the industrial sector, for example for machines, ships or heavy drives. That's why I'm invested in both. 3M is a real compounder and, among other things, supplies high-performance insulation materials, adhesives and protective coatings for battery cells and modules, i.e. a broad-based blade manufacturer in the energy sector 💡

I think we can all agree that CATL and BYD are clearly among the favorites 🔋 I'm not worried about Rio Tinto either, a real big player in the commodities sector. I also find $OKLO, which could herald a new era with its mini-nuclear power plants, exciting. Innovative, compact and forward-looking, that could be really exciting in the energy supply sector ⚡
