The share has already risen by over 100% this year. Only in the savings plan since May.

Highlights of the second quarter:

• Net sales amounted to 1.9 billion dollars an increase of 12 % compared to the same period in 2023.
• Comparable sales growth of 6,7 %
• Earnings per share of 0,94 $ compared to earnings per share of 0,65 $ compared to the same period in 2023
• Opening of 5 new stores, so that as of June 30, 2024 419 stores in 23 states

• Approved a new share buyback program worth 600 million and purchased 640,000 common shares representing a total investment of $44 million.

A very interesting stock, somewhat surprisingly steep today.

Old Swede... 24% down after publication of the figures. They are "only" okay and the outlook is now very conservative (but realistic), but does that justify this sell-off? Or am I missing something?

Sprouts is a US organic supermarket chain. The sustainable idea hits the spot. They are the third largest organic supermarket chain in the world.

Key figures overview:

P/E 20: 10.75

P/E ratio 21e: 12.6

Gross margin: 36.78

Net operating margin (NOPAT): 5.5% and thus second-best margin of all main competitors (see NOPAT overview)

ROCE: 24

Leverage ratio < 4 x EBIT (3.3)

Why Sprouts? Firstly, the very favorable valuation, and secondly, the good market position compared to the competition. Sprouts is in a growing market and meets the ravages of time.

Why also interesting in the short term? Consumer goods stocks with some pricing power can take advantage of slightly higher inflation to push through higher prices to sustainably increase their margins.
