Merck CUTS and Ahold Delhaize New Purchase

After $MRK (+2,68 %) in collaboration with the partner
$MRNA (+14,78 %) a a pleasant surprise from the Phase 3 trial on the cancer vaccine in combination with Keytruda , the stock has risen to a new all-time high.

I took profits on a little more than a third of my position because there is still no final approval yet. I’m holding onto two-thirds of my position because I’m still very convinced by Merck convinced .

$AD (+0,79 %) I’ve just added this to my portfolio. I entered the position at a dividend yield of just under 4%.

Since Ahold Delhaize is currently navigating the challenging U.S. market , I expect the stock price to decline . I will therefore gradually buy more shares and build up my position in the company to my desired size.

This is just a guess on my part, and I’m often wrong!

Do you have Merck in your portfolio? And how are you handling it?

@PoorDad - Taking profits never hurts 👍 You’ll definitely be able to buy more $MRK at a lower price in a few months.

@FinanzMechaNikk Merck is the kind of pharmaceutical stock I could probably hold in my portfolio forever. Back then, I saw an opportunity with a dividend yield of over 4% and bought the stock right away. Yesterday, Merck was the second-largest position in my portfolio, and Ahold is offering a yield nearly 2% higher at the current stock price... I see another opportunity here given its expansion strategy.

@PoorDad By the way, I like that your AI character is buying Pepsi! I wasn’t familiar with Ahold before—thanks for the insight. Besides the nice long-term upward trend, I think it’s great that they’re already active in the U.S. So far, the only things that have put me off are the competition and the Dutch withholding tax.

@FinanzMechaNikk Withholding tax shouldn't be an issue that deters investors. If you're Austrian, the double taxation treaty takes care of everything, and the Kest is credited against the withholding tax. I think there's also a double taxation treaty in Germany (I'm not German, so I'm not entirely sure).
The AI has built you another weird little basket :-P

P.S. Yeah, I read your post too—I didn't just look at the picture. But as is often the case, I'm not interested in going it alone.
