Binance is closing my account because I don't want to upload my ID again as I currently have no use for Binance. I had a look and still found $BNB (-1,04 %) worth 77 USD. I then quickly exchanged them for $BTC (-1,55 %) exchanged them. The sats will be used to inaugurate my new hardware wallet 🙂

@DonkeyInvestor I may be strange in this respect. In terms of usability, I find the Nano x much better than the bitbox. I find the capacitive buttons really annoying and I personally don't like the fact that I can't check the wallet status without the bitbox connected. But tastes are different. And luckily there's BlueWallet. Now I have both and the ledger contains tax-free bitcoin. Next year in October or when btc reaches 150k, I'll see if there's anything left when I cash out.

@DonkeyInvestor I told you I'd see if there's anything left on the ledger next year. But I'm pretty confident about that. The issue with stolen, has pretty much every large company and ledger recovery can certainly be discussed. But I don't see where they're fucking the customer. If someone is stupid enough to hang a chain with the ledger around their neck, it's their own fault. Shift crypto is also not a charity organization. Their employees also want to make a living. You can see that in the pricing - the bitbox is twice as expensive as a Nano s. And that open source is always better because it can be verified is also a fairy tale for me. There were a number of bugs in OpenSSL that went unnoticed for a long time.

@0xBerndBuffet The first thing they did was to leak their customers' address data. Even though they claimed that these were not stored at all. This is even more critical with crypto products than with others.

I have a hardware wallet so that I can sleep peacefully at night and don't have to worry about anything for years. That's what I did. Then, after a long time, I looked in the wallet again. Zack, a coin is no longer supported and there is no way to restore it.

Apart from the fact that Ledger Recovery even exists, the official X account previously claimed that it is not technically possible to export the seed phrase.

I don't understand the chain around your neck. Why would Shift Crypto be a charity organization? I don't understand the connection either.

Of course there can be bugs in OpenSource. But in ClosedSource too. The two variants are not different here. However, the verifiability of OpenSource is a clear advantage. It's not about the presence of bugs. It's about the disclosure of backdoors, the security of the algorithms used, ... Particularly in the case of a company that has demonstrably lied several times, I would no longer believe anything that cannot be independently verified.

The few extra euros that a BitBox costs are not relevant to me. I wouldn't entrust a 6-digit FIAT amount to a product from such a company just because I can save 70 euros.

@DonkeyInvestor I don't understand the 6-digit pin. If you enter it incorrectly 3 times, the device deletes itself. A password that is very difficult to enter on a device like the bitbox does not make the device any better.

@DonkeyInvestor but I have both - I wouldn't store a 6-digit fiat amount on just one wallet either. There is always a residual risk regardless of whether it's bitbox or ledger.
