Speculating on a turnaround with a nice dividend.

$GIS (+1,29 %)
General Mills remains a solid, defensive dividend stock in a period of transition. The shift toward greater innovation and the $3 billion cost-cutting program are the right steps to counter weak consumer spending. For patient investors, the stock offers a stable foundation with an attractive dividend.

I think the entire sector will bounce back soon. Two days ago, I decided to buy into $HSY. I like the long-term chart there better.

@jkb92 The sector was—or still is—a bargain. PEP and MDLZ are my favorites. HSY is awesome, too.

@PoorDad In the very long term, I'm not that convinced, because I think the importance of brands in the food sector is declining. But I still think the sector will see a rotation soon if we see another slight correction in the overall market.

Some people here on the forum were really fed up with this stock, but they’d apparently already been through a long, painful period marked by sharp price declines.

At some point, the market will bottom out—or maybe it’s already bottomed out—and things will start looking up again. I wish you the best of luck! 🙂

@NichtRelevant Thank you very much. It worked out for $BATS, too. They’ve also “reinvented” themselves with vapes. Let’s see what the management at $GIS comes up with.

Dividend well covered by FCF (Shareholder Returns FY 2026: $1.8 billion, including buybacks). Sustainable, but further growth is limited amid declining profits.
RSL & Momentum (SMA-based): Price near 5-year lows → Relative Strength Low (RSL weak vs. the market). Momentum is negative (below key SMAs such as the 50- and 200-day moving averages following a strong downtrend). Possible short-term stabilization following the Q4 beat, but no clear uptrend. Technical outlook: oversold, but the trend remains weak.

@He-Man I gradually sold off my position, starting at €55 and working my way down to €40... and finally sold at around €30. Since the sale, I've felt like I've shaken off a parasite. I also got a tax refund, which helped ease the emotional pain.

Lost returns, a persistent downward trend with no bottom in sight since mid-2023. In my view, anyone investing here at this point is not an investor seeking to generate returns. These are merely bets on a fantasy based on history. See $NOVO B or $ZTS

@Crash-Propheteus I don't see it that way. I trust management. After all, this isn't some fly-by-night operation that has nothing to lose. They need to come up with something. I think management can pull it off.

@He-Man Oh, well, at least none of that has shown up in the stock price for the past 3 years 🤷‍♂️ So, sure, you can believe a lot of things, but so far, nothing has materialized……so it really is just a fly-by-night operation 😩
