ABB regrouping

Hello,

I own ABB ADRs $ABBNY (+3,73 %) but since May 1, the Swiss ABB share has also been available $ABBN (+2,28 %) on our stock exchanges. Would it make sense to switch my ADRs into the Swiss shares? There are not an enormous number of them, but still.

Remember the withholding tax if you are interested in dividends! This is the same in the USA as in Germany thanks to the double taxation agreement.
The Swiss pay 35%, of which only 15% can be reclaimed, if I remember correctly.
And I don't think you can deduct the rest as development aid for endangered mountain tribes... 😜

Good question. Have a look at a Ki to see what happens with the spin-off. Depending on that, you would or would have to switch. Otherwise, I'm always a fan of the original. As long as you don't have too much profit on the shares, you can always switch

@topicswithhead but simpler than expected. In the end, it's just a question of what you prefer. I prefer the real variant. If you have hardly any profits, you can switch. If you have a lot of profits, you have to see if the tax hit is worth it.
