It always depends on the price at which you entered the market. Good risk management is the key.

@Investsinstocks But he's right—the likelihood that you sold pretty much right at the bottom isn't exactly low. Let's check back on this in two months.

@jkb92 Given my investment horizon, it doesn't really matter whether I sell at the low point or not. On the one hand, I was able to realize a loss offset, and on the other hand, even if prices reverse, there’s no guarantee that another stock (such as Netflix) will outperform LVMH. I’m just not a big fan of half-baked statements on topics that not even Wall Street can master :)

@Investsinstocks As I said, we can always meet here again in a few months and see how things have developed. In any case, $NFLX isn’t a bad price for a countercyclical entry right now.

@jkb92 If, for example, you've held the stock for 2 years and nothing has happened, it doesn't really matter when you sell it.

@alphawolf Yeah, sure, if you’re planning to sell them anyway, it doesn’t matter—or rather, it’s actually already too late. If you’re selling out of frustration (and that’s the impression I’ve mostly gotten from the recent sales posts here on the forum), then it definitely matters whether you sell just before the next upward momentum or wait a little longer.

@jkb92 @Investsinstocks If you look at the 1W or 1M timeframe, the price is currently forming a double bottom. Who knows, maybe the price will start rising again from here 💡

@MikeUpegui I don't draw lines; instead, I'm interested in macroeconomic trends and fundamental data.

@jkb92 Fair point. But actually, it wasn’t a fire sale. For me, it was more about forcing myself to let go of a losing position. If I hold onto LVMH for 5 years, I’ll definitely end up in the black. The only question is what kind of performance it will deliver—and I’m hoping for something better elsewhere.

Of course, I could be completely wrong—as we all know, nobody has a crystal ball 🔮

@Investsinstocks That's true. I'm just looking at it from a technical analysis perspective, so I don't think the likelihood of new significant lows is that high anymore. But since you're also finding a countercyclical entry point with $NFLX right now, that's a great alternative :)
