Tech Sale Now Available at My Store, Too

I'm temporarily away from $IREN (-14,55 %) and $IONQ (-8,59 %) stepped back for now. Not because I don’t believe in their future, but because I think things will keep going downhill from here, and I don’t want to be part of that. I’m waiting to see how the midterms, the Anthropic IPO, and other developments play out, and I’ll check back here next year at the earliest. In addition, I’m still heavily invested in tech in my portfolio.

That hurts. But to err is human.

I don’t know. I’m not sure. I’m in the red myself, but I’ve also been in the black more than once. For me, the plan right now is to sit tight and keep buying until mid-2027, since they’ll “probably” be profitable by then. In the long term, I see an upswing—especially among Democrats—combined with profitability and the fact that $IREN, compared to other companies, has lower CO2 emissions and can operate its data centers using energy from its own sources. In my view, this is a very significant factor for the future. This is not investment advice.

@TheRealPowell I agree with you, too, and I'm staying invested.

@TheRealPowell I agree. Especially since the current rapid expansion by competitors (e.g., SpaceX) is primarily driven by retrofitting existing buildings and generating energy through “behind-the-meter” solutions (e.g., Bloom Energy). By 2027/2028, there could be significant energy-related bottlenecks and delays in further expansion. IREN remains in a significantly better position in this regard. Furthermore, the current narrative regarding a lack of financial viability is in no way comparable to that of Coreweave. Coreweave is completely different—and significantly worse off—in terms of its pricing approach and financials.
I’m staying invested and will continue to buy more shares.

Now's the time to buy, and people are jumping ship 🥲—not for the faint of heart. I think we might see another 10–20% drop here, but then things will start going up again.

@Wojtek And precisely because I still see a 10–20% decline ahead, I've sold my position. I also explicitly stated that I'm keeping an eye out for a later, lower entry point...

@Keineui Still, I just don't get it. Especially if you want to get back in, you're assuming the market will rebound. So why burn through your money now? Selling at a 45% loss, right after the biggest weekly drop. Looks like panic selling to me^^

@Daffy This means I'll receive a four-figure capital gains tax refund. I'm going to invest that conservatively in dividends for now, and then I can take another look at things with peace of mind in the new year. There was certainly some panic involved, too—about how much further it might fall and whether it would keep falling. Only time will tell if it was the right decision.

An interesting parallel: I also exited $IREN this morning with a -40% loss and plan to see how things look next year.
I still believe in the story and am used to volatility, but right now I don’t see the turnaround “yet.”
I also didn’t want to wait until the midterms and earnings reports sent the stock on another steep decline—and if that doesn’t happen, I’m happy for everyone who stayed in or bought low :)

I'd be interested to hear Bam Bam Invest's opinion on that 😂

@dividend_hunter_1721 But you won't find any "dividend hunters" among the Irish. Or is your name just random?

I'm always amazed at how sometimes even simple math can predict the cycles of the stock markets
••
Imagen de perfil
@user03 What exactly do you mean by that?
••
Imagen de perfil
@Keineui Many people buy stocks out of FOMO or for other reasons as soon as they rise sharply, and as soon as they start to fall, they sell.
••
Imagen de perfil
@user03 Well, that’s certainly true from time to time, but on the other hand, the current environment is simply uncertain, and the market isn’t exactly acting in a completely rational way everywhere right now.

Take RocketLab, for example: a total hype stock. I got in, took a nice profit, sold before the SpaceX IPO when things got more uncertain, and bought back in at the bottom.

With Iren, I missed the exit a bit and sold too late, but you can always buy back in at the bottom if you’re convinced of its long-term potential and it eventually finds its bottom—or not? Putting up with volatility is certainly part of the deal with a stock like this, but you don’t necessarily have to stay on board all the way to rock bottom 😅
••
Imagen de perfil
@pivot_code Are you back at Rocket Lab already?
••
Imagen de perfil
@user03 That's great for you—then you can predict the cycle and make a ton of money. I'm looking forward to your posts about how you predicted it and made money off of it. :)

@Sebbster Yeah, exactly
••
Imagen de perfil
@Keineui I never said that, and unfortunately, it's not the case either; nevertheless, we can draw some conclusions about the current market from well-known cycles such as the Gartner Hype Cycle

@RenaTess I don't think so either. I was simply thinking about getting out for now. I didn't explicitly rule out getting back in later at a better price.
