innoscripta: Stock Plummets After Raids

Investigations into potential tax benefits are weighing on the stock price; the financial and operational implications for innoscripta remain unclear.

Investigative authorities have searched the business premises of innoscripta SE $DE000A40QVM8 (-2,05 %) and other companies in the group. Investors reacted to the news with heavy selling. The company’s stock lost 26 percent of its value in today’s trading and fell to 65.30 euros.

Suspicions of aiding and abetting unauthorized tax benefits

The measures were triggered by a criminal tax investigation. The investigation centers on suspicions of aiding and abetting unjustified tax benefits in connection with clients’ applications for research grants. The authorities’ actions are based on rulings by the Schwäbisch Gmünd Local Court dated August 3 and September 15.

Based on the company’s current understanding, the regulatory measures are directed at possible misconduct by individual employees in connection with specific client mandates. The company stated that the facts of the matter are being thoroughly investigated. In addition, the company is cooperating fully with the investigating authorities.

Client Responsibility and Unresolved Consequences

In its statement, the company emphasized the formal division of roles in the application process. Accordingly, clients themselves decide on the respective applications. They also bear responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the information provided.

It remains unclear at this time what financial or operational consequences the ongoing investigations will have for the Group. According to the company, a final assessment of the impact on the innoscripta Group is not yet possible.

High Uncertainty Weighs on the Stock Price

The steps taken by the investigating authorities are causing considerable uncertainty in the market. Following the sharp drop in the stock price after news of the searches broke, the stock closed well below the previous day’s closing price of 88.80 euros. For investors, the outcome of the investigations and the actual scope of the allegations against individual employees remain the key factors determining future performance.

It's down nearly 60% now, so I just bought a few on a whim for 37.90.... 🚀

@Dividendenopi If it was just a few employees and nothing serious, things might turn out well.

@Dividendenopi I'm keeping my fingers crossed :) Can you tell me what percentage of the bet you're in for?

@Sebbster A small position of 100 shares. I've had these on my watchlist for my dividend portfolio for a while now; fundamentally, they're in really good shape, and right now I'd even have a dividend yield of over 10%.

@Sebbster I hope that's the case. Unfortunately, I was/am invested, but I've bought more shares. What makes me think this is a one-off situation is that insiders have been buying heavily at €80 recently.

@jkb92 Yeah, let's see how it turns out. Are you still with $LAC, by the way?
••

@Sebbster No, I'm out of the running with the push in terms of numbers. But I'm paying the price with $VUL:(

@jkb92 Uhh, yeah, they've been hit hard too. It doesn't look like $VUL is bottoming out anytime soon either. Are you holding on? Would you buy back into $LAC? Or is Vulcan enough for you as a lithium play?

@jkb92 I'll probably buy some more tomorrow, too. It seems—based on today's news—that this only affects a handful of employees and isn't a widespread issue. Fundamentally and operationally, this doesn't change my thesis at all. So tomorrow I'll double my position, plus a little extra on top.👌🏻

@Sebbster With VUL, I'm watching to see if the low on the CAD chart holds; otherwise, I'll have to reconsider.

Right now, it seems only a single-digit number of employees are affected. I've also put some money in my brokerage account. Things will become clearer.

@Sebbster It could happen, of course—as long as there's no news, the price won't change. I think things will be different on Monday or sometime this week.

Oh my goodness. I'm really at a loss here. Should I buy more? Wait and see? Cut my losses? I'm leaning toward the first option. But I'm not yet sure what impact this will have on the business and our customer relationships.

@WarrenamBuffet Why is that? Those are two completely different things happening, aren't they?

@Sebbster Well, when I read "search" and now read "buy more," I just have to keep that in mind ^^ A lot of people thought the same thing back then—it'll be fine

Holy shit. I had those in my portfolio for a short while. Sometimes you just get lucky.

Is there any relevant news about Innoscripta? The stock price is still plummeting this morning. Apparently, the investigation in Munich hasn't been going so smoothly so far!? As a naive taxpayer, it's probably best not to delve too deeply into the business model! 😬

I'm also invested and remain convinced, but I'm waiting for the market to stabilize first. Buying right now is too risky for me.
