Phew, isn't that a lot of effort to keep up with? Serious question. I've never given it much thought because I never thought it was worth the time involved.

@KevinC It doesn't take much effort. I'm also interested in it and I enjoy optimizing it in this area. As an employee, your salary in Germany is generally the same. You earn just as much sitting on the desk as you do in a meeting. Employee shares are the exception in Germany.

@Europoor No, that's not what I mean. I simply mean overtime. I take on a lot of tasks that most of my team don't want to do, so I work more hours, which are of course paid. As my hourly wage is good/adequate, I think three times about whether I spend time on things that I don't classify as "free time". That's why I take my shirts to the dry cleaners. I simply earn more money in that time than ironing would cost me.

@KevinC This is only possible if your overtime (from hour 1) is paid. Often a certain amount of overtime is paid directly or can only be reduced. But yes, I also externalize for money. In other words, I exchange money for time.

@Der_Dividenden_Monteur I take everything I can get. You don't always have everything in view, but various combinations result in nice additional discounts and possibly good offers anyway.

•@KevinC One other thought, everyone defines their free time differently. If I can generate money by watching stuff like that, that's nice. Soccer, computer games or other popular leisure activities are, in my opinion, a totally unproductive waste of time.
