Samsung disappoints with weak quarterly figures + PepsiCo Inc. outperforms in the third quarter + SHARES IN THE FOCUS: DocMorris turns positive

The latest business figures from Samsung $SMSD (-1.56%) fall short of market expectations. In its quarterly outlook for the months of July to September, the South Korean electronics giant assumes that the operating profit of 9.1 trillion won (around 6.1 billion euros) has increased fourfold year-on-year. However, compared to the previous second quarter of the year, profits fell by almost 13 percent. The markets reacted with disappointment. Samsung's share price fell by more than 1.3 percent immediately after the publication of the quarterly outlook. Experts attribute the comparatively weak quarterly figures to the fact that the market leader for memory chips, smartphones and televisions is currently lagging behind in the development of high-performance semiconductors in the booming AI market. In particular, direct competitors Nvidia and SK Hynix are putting Samsung under heavy pressure. The business figures are only an initial estimate. The Group will only publish more precise figures at a later date, probably at the end of the month.

The shares of DocMorris $DOCM (+0.8%) turned clearly positive on Tuesday morning in a weak market environment. The shares of the Swiss competitor of Redcare Pharmacy $RDC (+1.15%) gained over 6 percent, while Redcare remained rather inconspicuously in the red. An article in "Apotheke Adhoc" entitled "Is Redcare going after DocMorris?" generated demand for DocMorris. According to the article, Redcare has now "left DocMorris far behind - and could even absorb it sooner or later".

PepsiCo Inc. $PEP (+0.52%) outperformed analysts' estimates of USD 2.29 with earnings per share of USD 2.31 in the third quarter.

• Sales of USD 23.32 billion below expectations of USD 23.9 billion.
• Due to product recalls and geopolitical tensions, Pepsico expects a slower increase in sales in the current financial year and only anticipates low single-digit growth.
• Pepsico is sticking to its earnings forecast and expects adjusted earnings per share of at least eight percent excluding currency effects and at least seven percent including currency effects to USD 8.15.
• Pepsico reported sales of USD 23.3 billion in the third quarter, down 0.6 percent year-on-year, while organic sales increased by 1.3 percent.
• In the third fiscal quarter, Pepsico earned USD 2.9 billion, five percent less than in the same period last year, due to product recalls at Quaker Foods and lower earnings at the snack division Frito-Lay.

Hi, somewhere in the feed there was a story...

It was about which listed companies you come into contact with in everyday life.

Somehow that appealed to me, and I thought to myself, that would be something where I could actively participate....

So....

After the morning bath visit with among other things products of $UN or $PG (+0.57%) are used, comes directly already a hot drink from $NESTS.

Then I pack my service laptop of $HPQ (+1.02%) with $INTC (+0.08%) inside, as well as my tablet and cell phone $SMSD (-1.56%) and $AAPL (+0.54%) in the bag and make me on the way.

Then I realize schei.... what forgotten, and run back to the bathroom again and mount my wristwatch from $UHRN (+0.51%) and the glasses from $FIE (-0.06%)

The way to work I do relatively comfortably in a $F (+0.53%), the ride is secured by $ALV (-0.89%).

On the way I get me depending on my mood still a croissant from $ARZTY. On the about 50km long distance on the highway I meet of course all other manufacturers $BMW (-1.25%)

Now also a stock exchange traded everyday life from the view of a gynecologist.

When I get up in the morning, I first take my Dreamlens from MPG&E out of my eyes. These are hard contact lenses that you have to wear at night and then during the day WITHOUT ANYTHING have a visual acuity of 110% (in my case). I usually have minus 5.5 - and glasses and mask - you know the fuss. Unfortunately, I have found no share at all, but still did not want to withhold MY discovery of 2021.

But now really further... with my $MBG (-1.05%) V-Class I drive half an hour to the MVZ practice in Berlin-Lichtenberg.

Arrived there my consultation nurse already has the $DELL PC and my bluetooth $LOGN (+0.73%) Keyboard + mouse up.

My ultrasound machine is leased from $SMSD (-1.56%) Samsung and makes really good pictures. I love ultrasound almost as much as laparoscopy, but since currently only the former is possible in the outpatient area, I greet my sono every morning with a hug.

Since I am @Simpson nominated, I now grant an insight into listed companies in my daily professional life.

Briefly about me: I am a mathematician and work in the semiconductor industry in a listed company.

Starting with the software: pretty much all computers in the office run Windows and Office from $MSFT (+0.22%). The PC's and the monitors themselves are all from $HPQ (+1.02%) with keyboard and mouse from $LOGN (+0.73%). The telephone system is WebEx from $CSCO (+0.38%) and the work phones are from $AAPL (+0.54%) with $DTE (+0.02%) contract (and that although next door $VOD (+0.66%) sits). In addition, there are large monitors in each conference room from $DELL (+0.7%).

In the production of the semiconductors itself there are of course many machines from $ASML (-0.55%), $CAJ (+2.28%) and $7731 (-0.04%). The many industrial gases needed come from $LIN , $AI (-0.77%) and $4091 (+0.68%). The basic material and chemicals come among others also from $WCH (-1.56%) and $BAS (+0.02%).

The purchasers of the finished chips then include, for example. $VOW3 (-0.74%) , $BMW (-1.25%) , $MBG (-1.05%) and $TM (-0.3%). But also $V (+0.47%), $AAPL (+0.54%) and $SMSD (-1.56%) are customers.

I have certainly forgotten a lot, but as an insight it should be enough I think.

I (still) work in the construction industry for Deutsche Bahn. 🛤

My typical workday starts with a walk to the company car, a $F (+0.53%). If I'm not talking on my employer's $SMSD (-1.56%) cell phone ☎️ of my employer, I like to listen to podcasts or audiobooks about $SPOT (+0.26%). However, this is only via my personal phone from $AAPL (+0.54%). 📱

Since the distances to the railroad construction sites in Germany can be very long, I have to refuel every now and then, of course. With the fuel card it goes then to Aral, which as you know a company of the $BP (+0.35%) is. Recently, however, one can also fill up at $TTE (-0.87%) fill up. ⛽️

Work equipment includes the $TOSYY laptop 💻 and Office365 from $MSFT (+0.22%) 📧. On the construction site itself, of course, the personal protective equipment (PPE), partly from $MMM (-0.11%), cannot be missing. 🦺

Beyond Meat plans to cut 19% of its workforce, or about 200 employees, the company said in a regulatory filing Friday. The company also said several executives will be leaving the company.
