Why would you need a blockchain to implement these things? A blockchain is nothing more than a distributed database. In order to enter external information into a blockchain, central actors are again required who must be trusted to ensure that the information is correct. Blockchain as a technology is extremely inefficient, but was necessary to solve the double spend problem and create a trustless network. If someone writes data to the blockchain, how will the other network participants be able to verify that it is correct? And if it doesn't need to be verified at all, why do you need a blockchain and can't do it with an efficient database?

...because central data storage outside the EU, for example, represents an insurmountable "data protection hurdle" on the road to digitalization.

...I know, I promote ICP in almost every comment ;-). But ICP launched an EU GDPR (general data protection regulation) compliant subnet at the end of last year.
On Chain Datastorage within the EU tamperproof - unhackable, cybersecurity superfluous, indestructible. If that's not sexy!

@MrBlueSky I very much doubt that the ICP blockchain is an unhackable data store. In my eyes, this is an extremely hard, centralized shitcoin. Why would you want to have important data on a public blockchain and why would the EU agree to something like this? The network would have to be truly decentralized for that, and only Bitcoin would come into question. However, it doesn't make much sense with Bitcoin either.

@stefan_21 You disagree, fair enough.
In fact, storing data onchain offers various advantages in terms of security.
Using ICP as an example, decentralization increases with the number of nodes and voting stakers.
No network can start out decentralized. Decentralization develops over time.

@MrBlueSky I agree with you. However, there needs to be an incentive to bring new nodes into the network and I don't really see that with ICP... But I could be wrong. We will see.

@stefan_21...well, the development is well documented and traceable on Explorer.
On Cryptomiso, ICP was the leader in terms of the number of Githu entries almost every month last year.
In the past few weeks, ICP was in second place among all cryptos in terms of TVL growth rate.

Sure, I could be wrong, but the data suggests otherwise.
