Help needed! Duolingo 💚

As I received salary I’m looking to invest some more into the market. Ofcourse I am looking for some great opportunities and think $DUOL is one of them. I’m hesitating because of the high valuation although I use it every day myself. From how I see it AI is the biggest strength of Duolingo instead of a threat for them. What do you think about Duolingo and is it a buy at this moment?

Not sure I need an app to learn languages when an on-device generic app will be able to help me as well and better because it’s got my data 🤷‍♂️

Haven‘t read hugely into their revenue streams and stuff, bit feels like they might profit short term but loose long term.

If you think people will still want to learn languages and do so in an entertaining way then Duolingo is fine, they are growing quite fast, the danger of AI is real but I think the managment understands the opportunity of integrating AI, LLMs are not competitor today, nobody uses chat gpt or gemini to learn a language, be searious, but in 5 years idk, their moat isn't strong but the product is very sticky

It’s all about the gamification. Learning a language on $DUOL is way more fun than chatting with an LLM, that’s my opinion. I don’t know much about the company itself, but the product is great and widely loved.

@Centurion10 Perfect summary! They have such great design and experimentation capabilities that make users come back. This is key to learning any new skill. I am bullish on the company but we will see over the next quarters whether competition like Google Translate & Co. will slow down their momentum. So far, it has not as witnessed by the stellar growth of fundamentals since launch of ChatGPT in 2022.
