Buy before or after the Extag?

I would like to add to this position next week $TDIV (+0.2%) .

What do you think is better? Buy before the ex-day and take the dividend with you or buy afterwards and use the setback to push the entry price down a bit?

Completely irrelevant
Savings plan on or in if you want to have it in your portfolio.

As has already been commented, there is not much difference. If you want to get more shares for the same amount of money and don't want to pay tax straight away or use up your tax-free allowance, then buy on the ex-date and not the day before

I wouldnt wait, you won't notice that price down probably in this case, moreover current price is nice and would be higher in one week if all that info about tariff suspension remains in place.

It doesn’t really matter. If you can’t make use of the dividend at the moment, I would wait to buy until after the ex-date

If you still have allowances -> before
Otherwise -> afterwards

The only difference is that you have to pay the tax on the dividend earlier

@SemiGrowth Thank you. Unfortunately, my allowance has already been used up this year.

@fund_mastermind_768 then just go in after the deduction. This will give you a tax deferral
