ASML ($ASML (-0.42%) ) recently launched its latest chip manufacturing system the High-NA Extreme Ultraviolet System, with a price tag of 380 million US dollars.

This investment is for chip manufacturersthat benefit from AI development development. Intel ($INTC (-4.07%) ) has already placed orders.

ASML is the sole manufacturer of such sophisticated semiconductor equipment. The machine makes it possible to produce lines with a thickness of only 8 nanometers which increases the transistor density.

@Investor_in_Jogginghose The 8nm refers to the resolution and not to the structure size of the transistors. The NXE systems have a resolution of 13.5nm with which a structure size of 3nm can be achieved. The new EXE with 8nm, on the other hand, are designed for a die size of up to 2nm. Just have a look at the ASML website for more information :)

@He-Man I believe that CPUs and gpus are manufactured more coarsely. But I can't tell you for sure what the reason is. Complexity or scrap frequency I guess.
