Casey's General Stores - underrated compounder from the USA

Hi everyone 👋

Today I wanted to introduce a rather "boring" stock that I find quite exciting: Casey's. $CASY (+0.42%)

🧾 Brief overview

Casey's operates over 2,500 convenience stores in the US, primarily in rural areas.

Business:

⛽ Gas stations

🛒 Convenience products

🍕 Fresh food (very important!)

💡 Investment case

1. strong local market position 🏡

Focus on smaller cities → less competition, more stable margins

2. pizza > petrol 🍕 > ⛽

The exciting point:

Casey's earns a lot of money with freshly prepared food

→ Higher margins than the traditional petrol station business

→ more like a mini-restaurant than a petrol station

3. solid growth 📈

  • New stores (organic + acquisitions)
  • Stable cash flows
  • Relatively defensive business model

No hype, but continuous.

4. capital allocation 💰

  • expansion
  • smaller takeovers
  • Dividend + buybacks

→ Nothing crazy, but solid implementation

⚠️ Risks

  • Dependent on the US consumer
  • Food costs could squeeze margins
  • Valuation often "fair" rather than favorable

📊 Conclusion

For me a classic:

👉 "boring quality compounder"

Reminds me a bit of what Warren Buffett often likes:

  • simple business
  • understandable
  • steady growth

Not a tenbagger case, but good to imagine as a long-term position.

What do you think? 🤔

Has anyone taken a closer look at Casey's $CASY (+0.42%) already taken a closer look

I've had the share on my watch list for a long time, but I've always wondered what they're doing about electrification. This will also inevitably affect the USA....

So far completely unknown to me. However, I'm already on the team $ATD.😅

What will happen to the business model in 5 years' time if customers only spend 10 minutes at the fast-charging station? Will they still be shopping at $CASY?

I already know it, solid business model. But unfortunately not for my portfolio and never really cheap. Take a look at $MUSA, a very good alternative to $CASY
