Run on defense stocks also drives up SFC Energy + Fed presents economic forecast this week + SAP has introduced a controversial new performance evaluation system

The US Federal Reserve will present new economic forecasts this week that will show how central bankers view the impact of Trump's policies on the economy. Leading
economists have lowered their growth expectations for this year, estimate a higher risk of recession and expect higher inflation as a result of the Trump administration's new import tariffs.

Run on defense stocks also drives SFC Energy $F3C (-1.91%)high

  • SFC Energy shares, which are included in the SDax, have recently joined the ranks of the defense stocks favored on the stock market.
  • Its fuel cells are also used for military purposes.
  • Among other things, the company advertises that its "tactical applications" are "militarily hardened for field use".
  • After gaining 11.6 percent on Friday, the share price rose sharply by a further 13 percent to 24 euros on Monday.
  • The shares reached a high since May last year.
  • Analyst Nicole Winter from Berenberg Bank pointed out last week that SFC Energy generates around 7.5 percent of its sales in the defense business.
  • In addition, the company had established a foothold in the USA last year in order to drive forward the defense business there as well.
  • Analyst Karsten von Blumenthal from investment firm First Berlin sees SFC Energy as a beneficiary of a fundamentally new geopolitical situation:
  • "The changed security situation of the European NATO states should result in significantly higher defense spending in Europe."
  • Last year, the defense and public safety segment was already the growth driver for SFC Energy with an increase of 60 percent.
  • This also applies to the USA, where SFC Energy has a "traditionally strong position" in the oil and gas, mining and defense and security markets.
  • Meanwhile, any import duties could accelerate the company's efforts to build up production in the USA.
  • The expert sees upside potential for the shares of up to 31 euros, which would be almost 30 percent of the current price.

SAP $SAP (-2.76%)has introduced a controversial new performance evaluation system

  • According to information from Handelsblatt, since the beginning of March, managers at the Group have been asked to classify their team members into three performance categories.
  • In addition to the content of their work, in future they will also have to take into account "professional standards", such as how they interact with colleagues.
  • The software manufacturer confirmed to Handelsblatt on Monday that "performance management" had recently been introduced in the parent company SE and the international subsidiaries following a pilot project with managers last year.
  • "The final steps are still being taken in the national company in Germany."(FAZ)
