A couple of years ago, the Italian bank BMPS was on the brink of collapse. Now, the firm has just completed a takeover bid (OPAS) on Mediobanca, which essentially means that BMPS exchanged cash and some of its shares to acquire 60–61% of Mediobanca, thereby taking control of the company.
