Tesla loses leadership role in robotaxis

Elon Musk and his company Tesla $TSLA (+2.3%) are currently having a tough time in the competitive e-car market. The dream of the self-driving robotaxi, which was supposed to revolutionize mobility, is already showing considerable weaknesses in the initial phase. Where Tesla was once considered a pioneer, the picture has changed: The company is now just one of many competitors. Industry experts are expressing concern as the technology is based purely on cameras, which calls passenger safety into question. Accidents involving robotaxis could not only shake customer confidence, but also jeopardize Tesla's entire business model. In addition, sales of electric cars in the EU have slumped by 40 percent. Musk feels compelled to act quickly, especially after he recently dismissed a top manager, causing additional unrest within the company. Competition from China is becoming increasingly threatening and the need to develop new models is becoming urgent. Tesla faces the challenge of justifying its high stock market value as competitors close in.

Sale of Mercedes car dealerships launched

Mercedes-Benz has heralded the sale of its Group-owned car dealerships in Germany, and the first steps have already been taken. The Sterne Group has taken over the first branch in Neu-Ulm, and a total of around 80 dealerships with thousands of employees are up for sale. This decision has met with fierce resistance from the works council, which considers the measure to be inappropriate. Mercedes justifies the move by stating that a future-oriented sales organization is necessary in order to meet the challenges of the market. However, the buyers must meet certain requirements to ensure that the changeover is not only economically but also socially responsible. The General Works Council has already announced that it will take action against the sale and sees it as a "slap in the face" for the employees affected. Mercedes is seeking constructive talks with potential buyers to ensure a smooth transition and to take the concerns of the workforce seriously.

My conclusion: It's still too early to tell who the "winner" will be. The race between Lyft, Waymo (Google), Tesla and Uber is still ongoing...
